I have never been to Stowe and had heard wonderful things about it, which were all true. But I thought we would really put the finishing touches on our trip by staying in a nice inn. Boy, was I wrong. The Stowe Inn needs to seriously focus on service. They appeared to be short-staffed and short-tempered. It's a shame because the property is beautiful, but it is over-priced for what you get.

We stayed here through Living Social deal. We called ahead to see if they had a fridge in our room and they didn't but were very accommodating and upgraded us. The room was a good size on the end and had a fridge and gas fireplace. We were pleased with the king size bed, cleanliness and size of the room. There is a side door next to our room which offers quick access to our room but when other people used this door it made our room door shake. We put some tissue in the door and it helped.
We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was pretty empty. They had 2 large parties and a few other tables. I already looked a the menu online and knew what we wanted but when we arrived they had changed the menu for that evening stating there was a new chef. We were starving so we decided to just get appetizers and mentioned this to the waitress and she understood and apologized for the change. We got salads, shrimp and potato skins, which were average.
I think the hotel is nice and they are making some changes in the restaurant.

I am very happy with my stay at the Stowe Inn. The staff was very nice - the bar tenders were super friendly and chatty. The Inn is a great value and the location is excellent (right in the middle of the restaurants, bars and shops). Really cute and historic atmosphere!

We had a great experience staying here in the late fall /pre-ski season. We had booked on-line and there was some sort of glitch, but on arrival were immediately upgraded with no problem. The Inn is located in a great spot in Stowe, so we were able to walk about and see the sites in this lovely town. Our room was fine - clean and comfortable, but the best feature of the Inn is their stunning parlour areas and restaurant. Lovely buffet breakfast too. We definitely will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the Annexes. Next time, we'd like to try the main Inn for its character.

Traveled long and far to get to Stowe and made a last minute reservation at the Stowe Inn and Tavern. Arrived the night before the epic snowfall that was winter storm Nemo and we were happy with out choices.

It's conveniently located and the staff at really excellent. The accommodations are rustic, but the rooms were adequate and very clean, and service was excellent. Room had a mini-fridge for drinks and was surprisingly large (could have slept 6 easily).

Recommended.

if you are looking for a quiet place to stay in Stowe, not too expensive, and not too crowded, this is the place!
the pros : empty dining room every night, so no need to wait or make reservations. decent food. nice bar. the bedroom could accomodate five people with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed (not always easy to fit 5 in the same room).
the cons: cheap breakfast (the all you can eat buffet costs 5 $ a person, but i would rather pay more and have better food). the hotel is in the village which means quite far from the slopes. it is chilly in the common areas (not in the rooms though). Service in the restaurant is unbelievably slow, do not go if you are in a hurry).
the staff is very nice.

Room Tip: room 205 is next to a noisy air conditioning system. we have earplugs at night so it wasn't a pr...

Thank you so much for this review, we always love to hear feedback from our guests and I am glad you enjoyed your stay. We will be working hard to iron out those couple of kinks you mentioned and hope to see you again soon (perhaps when we have had a good snowfall and it's not too cold on the slopes)!

We stayed for 4 nights in December with my nephew and his friend (early 20's). We all had a wonderful and memorable time. The boys were able to cross the street and get the shuttle to the mountain top for snowboarding. We were able to walk a few feet and enjoy the beautiful town of Stowe. Everything was picture perfect. We had 2 lovely, clean & very comfortable rooms. The staff went out of their way to make our stay a great experience & were extremely helpful with recommendations. The continental breakfast was perfect to start our mornings and we enjoyed our dinners there. The location was great and the Inn was completely charming. My nephew enjoyed the experience as much as we did. We are looking forward to visiting again. Anne

Room Tip: We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor which were very private and comfortable.
