“Delightful Inn--Picture Postcard Perfect!”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

This is the quintessential village inn experience! What a delightful place for a mid-summer (or any season) vacation ! Starting with the warm welcome at checkin in an historic inn lobby, moving on to the beautifully redecorated rooms and then to the pleasant pool courtyard with lots of chaises on which to relax, all contribute to the perfect vacation ambience! But wait, there is so much more! Superb service in every area, complimentary cookies and tea served every afternoon, an incredible breakfast buffet or cooked to order breakfast served in the charming Main St Dining Room, and then you are really missing out if you don't dine at least once in The Whip which is the Inn's fabulous restaurant serving lunch and dinner daily either inside in a warm, intimate atmosphere or (weather permitting) outside on their enticing patio! I love this Inn and, although I live in Florida, I come at least twice every year and always leave wishing I could stay longer!

My boyfriend and I got a groupon for $229 for two nights at the Green Mountain Inn. I would definately say it is hands down the best place to stay in Stowe (with the exception maybe of the big spas in the area). Our room was in the newly renovated part of the building and was HUGE! It had a foyer, two big closets, and a jacuzzi in the room next to w huge king bed that faced a beautiful gas fireplace and HUGE flatscreen TV. Everything was brand new but it was still charming. It also had a balcony so my boyfriend could smoke, even though I don't think he was supposed to do that....
The resturant in the Inn (I forget the name) was AWESOME and overlooked the inn pool. It was walking distance to everything in Stowe and very centrally located. I would highly recommend this inn!

Room Tip: Ask for the renovated rooms!

What a great option this inn is. Its has the feel of an historic hotel but all the amenities are clean and modern. Very romantic place with a dark, cozy bar/pub on the lower level. We didnt eat at the restaurant on the first floor but heard good things. There isnt a huge downtown but there was plenty on Main street for us. Restaurants, shops, galleries even the visitor center across the street was nice, all on the same block as the Inn. The pool was nice and the hot tub was very big, I wish they were close to each other. The high, four-poster canopy bed was fun and romantic, better to leave the kids at home next time. Speaking of, son was happy with pool, hot tub and game room. Somehow he managed to find us in The Whip Bar and Grill when his money ran out.

Room Tip: There are a lot of options here. We had a room in the origin part of the Inn. Its right on main stre...

My husband and I desperately needed to get away from it all so we returned to wonderful Vermont. Our first visit to the Green Mountain Inn and Stowe was idyllic and we wanted to relive that experience. Normally one's second visit somewhere doesn't live up to the first one, especially if it was magical in any way. Well, I am happy to say that our second time there was as great or better than the first. The staff is so warm and friendly, the accommodations excellent and breakfast yummy as always. We stayed in an apartment this time which was a treat. We had such a nice time and didnt want to leave so we added on 3 more nights. Thank you Green Mountain Inn for your hospitality and restoring our peace of mind. See you again soon!

Room Tip: Treat yourself to a Luxury Suite or an apartment - the Liftline apartment was amazing.

We had a fantastic stay here in Feb 2012. The service in the hotel was great, everyone was super friendly. The facilities are wonderful; the jacuzzi, the outdoor pool, the rooms and the sitting areas. Afternoon hot cider and cookies were really nice and plenty of board games for you to play was a really nice touch. The location on main street can seem a little way from some of the restaurants, but we didn't find it a problem. There were a few restaurants you could walk to, but others you would have to take the car to, but that would be the same wherever you stayed in Stowe as it is spread out.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in this historic inn with lots of charm. Vintage photos with commentary line the halls for a journey thru time. The bar is a fantastic hideaway with lots of speciality drinks. Two cautions: room 203 is tiny with barely room for two people to maneuver around two open suitcases; there were only two shaded lounge chairs around the pool. The sun was blazing - way too bright and hot to read or relax by the pool which is badly in need of more landscaping and umbrellas.

Room Tip: Room 208 with two queen beds was nice and quiet, facing the side street. Trucks barrel along the mai...

We were offered a deluxe and a standard and after looking at them the standard was far superior. Big balcony on ground level overlooking the pool and close to ice machine. Fabulous location and wonderful service. We well stay here again if back in vermont.
