Little late review, but here it is anyway.
LOCATION:
A short drive off of I-89, Stowe Mountain Lodge is indeed right at the base of Spruce Peak, the lesser peak of the resort. To travel over to the main mountain, simply use the "Over easy" gondola right out of the hotel. During dangerously windy days, this and other gondolas may close as they did for us one day. A bus makes round trips about every 10 minutes. This alone gives an enormous advantage to this hotel if you don't feel like driving to and from the ski station, and not necessarily at such a great financial disadvantage.

SERVICE:
Valet service begins as you park in front of the hotel, with a valet opening your door and asking to bring in your luggage. Valets are generally nice. Travellers who prefer to watch over their own belongings, as you would were you travelling in other countries, might feel slightly uneasy about the staff's insistence on taking everything for you. Your car is parked in an interior parking, and having it wait for you outside to go out takes about 5 minutes.
Check-in is easy.
The concierge service is fantastic. We had to delay our trip by 48 hours with only 24 hours' notice, and the concierge took care of the room and the pre-purchased ski tickets with the station in about 5 minutes over the phone, while politely asking if he could reserve a dinner for us some time.
Staff is indeed very young, but definitely from the area. We met some staff members on their days off skiing at the mountain with their young friends. The answer to most questions is "I don't know", but they seem to have a genuine desire to be of service and go out of their way to be polite and accomodate reasonable demands.
The ski valet is often reported to be slow, but we didn't suffer any of it. Ski and boots could be obtained immediately.

ROOM:
Clean. Two or three hairs leftover on the pillows, which might drive some people off, but the sheets were definitely cleaner than anything I saw in any mexican or nearby luxury hotel on "all-included vacations". The bathroom and the rest of the room were absolutely perfectly clean. No troubles with water flow in any part of the bathroom. The gas fireplace functioned well, as well as the TV. Didn't try the wireless internet. The kitchenette provides a small fridge, a small dishwasher which the maid uses to clean your dishes if you haven't already done so, a large microwave, sufficient and nice china. We were able to eat breakfast in, prepare included coffee, and save our lunch without any troubles.

AMENITIES:
We tried the pool and swam out in the heated water without any discomfort despite the cold winter. Two jacuzzis provide added heat. They were almost crowded though while we stayed, in the middle of the week and in down season where the hotel was likely almost empty, so it might get problematic on busy week-ends. We saw, but didn't try the gym, which seemed very well equipped, along with a trainer.
We tried the Solstice restaurant. Visiting the US, we expected enormous portions and were surprised with the minuscule amount of food we were served. Service was just fine, though.

PRICING:
This hotel is not cheap, but the various deals offered make the adventure affordable. Check your bills: mine had double-charged the ski tickets and added a few hundred dollars. Bringing my receipts and proofs of purchase eased out the process of correcting any billing errors. I suggest you do the same.
Valet service comes at the price of 17$/night.

I just returned from a long getaway weekend with my husband, parents and dog and am already planning on returning to the Stowe Mountain Lodge in the summer! We had a great experience from start to finish. I read many reviews before our trip and just want to clarify that you can choose to self-park instead of vallet! You just have to ask. The vallet staff was great even though we didnt' use their service, they helped us get our bags in the room, gave us a quick tour of the hotel grounds and answered all the questions we had. The lodge is absolutely beautiful, the architecture, the decor, just perfect. It was quiet and not busy at all since ski season is now over and that's exactly what we needed. The outdoor heated pool is great, the jacuzzi was super relaxing and the fact that they allow dogs at such a nice hotel was the part I loved the most. They don't stick you in a "dog friendly" stinky room, which not very many hotels do. The pub, Hourglass, is awesome, affordable food and lovely atmosphere. It's connected with Solstice, the fine dine restaurant and it offers a very relaxing and casual atmosphere. We walked around the golf course and the lake and the views were just breath-taking! Can't wait to go back in the summer!

I don't even know where to begin - this hotel was just spectacular. They thought of every detail. Here are a few highlights:

- Location could not be better - step out of the lobby and get right on the lift for Spruce Peak or Mt. Mansfield
- Our room was modern and very comfortable (we even had a kitchenette). All seem to have balconies
- You can borrow a Mercedes to get around town for free!
- The gym is huge - the pilates studio even has reformers in it
- This is cool - you can get into the heated outdoor pool getting into the water inside and then swimming through this tunnel so you don't get cold. Then, when you get out there the deck is heated so your feet stay warm
- There is a great arcade w/ games like air hockey and Guitar Hero
- The restaurant off the lobby, Solstice, is so good, and really nice
- The spa is super luxurious - my treatment was fabulous

We absolutely LOVED this hotel. I would go back in a second. I highly recommend staying there - you definitely won't be disappointed

We had a great experience w this property & would definitely return.
-Location was great bc it was right by the mountain & with plenty of surrounding grounds. Fantastic views!
-We had a clean, spacious room w a crappy view of the parking lot but this was our fault for not specifying a better view when making the reservation.
-The service was wonderful. Very friendly & eager to please.
-The hotel's restaurant was absolutely delicious w great service to boot
-The spa was also a great experience & I highly recommend it

Just returned from a spring skiing trip and stayed here. Although the mountain conditions were a little slushy (understandably) what a fabulous stay we all had at the Stowe Mountain Lodge. Our Studio was absolutely gorgeous and what we all appreciated was the clever design. The studio was quite large, with a highly contemporary feel yet somehow managing to attain a bit of a rustic feel that Vermont is known for and that we love. The bath is spectacular. The kitchenette is high end and very small, but again the clever design has everything fit into the space in just the right way. There is a toaster, coffee pot, 2 burners, microwave and even a small dishwasher! The service in every aspect was exceptional. I can't say enough about the courteous staff and how every request we asked about was met with a smile. (thank you Bridget) We had fabulous views and a large deck overlooking Spruce. The pool and spa were superb. Aesthetically the hotel is incredibly pleasing, at least for my tastes. The restaurant was good, but not the best. I do, however, highly recommend the quaint restaurant within the golf club and I believe also part of the resort. It's called The Cottage and unfortunately is only open Thur-Sun. Don't miss it. The chef, Jamie Nelson is superb. All in all this was a wonderful vacation and Stowe Mountain Lodge certainly saw to that. I really have no negatives with this experience, which is very rare these days.

Very nice hotel, the room was very clean and cosy. Everything worked perfectly, including service. Housekeeping worked great (I read previous reviews and was surprised). Location is wonderful and in 5 minutes you are in the slopes. Views are great. Valet parking is a bit pricey (17 USD) but it worked fast. Outdoor pool area is great although there are too few sunbeds - people are 'claming' them and then staying in the pool and not using them which is a bit annoying. (The hotel could maybe advise people not to take 8 sunbeds etc.?)

My boyfriend and I stayed at the lodge this past weekend. I have to say that the overall service (minus housekeeping) was impeccable - especially the guys out front. They really went the extra mile to make us feel special and so attentive.

I was a little disappointed with the cleanliness of our bathroom when we first arrived. There were strands of hair in the shower stall from previous guests. It was later taken care of after asking about it twice - first time through front desk and second time through housekeeping.

The noise level was also not the best - walls are very thin at this lodge. You can hear neighboring guests, doors open/close, and people at the pool outside. There are a lot of kids at this lodge so expect noises early in the morning!

One more thing, the bed was not the most comfortable. A bit hard for our taste so we didn't get the best sleep.
