“Customer Service!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2013

First, we made a last minute change on our reservation and showed up a day early to avoid the bad snow and they accommodated us with no problems. We drove up at 10pm on a Tuesday night and were welcomed by the most attentive and friendly staff imaginable (I wish I could name them here but it was so late that I didn't catch their names!) They quickly checked us right in and loaded up three snowboards and tons of other luggage all with a smile. Our attendant gave us a detailed tour of the room and made sure we received extra linens immediately so we could make up the pull out for our tired boys. (He even offered to make it up for us.) The next three days continued with the same phenomenal service. Small personal touches go a long way, remembering our names, always saying hello etc... I didn't ski but enjoyed hanging at the hotel with a book and cup of coffee (or wine). My kids loved hitting the outside pool while it snowed outside and I loved getting in and out in the warm indoor area, a very cool feature. The only thing to remember is that the prices for food are pretty high if you a looking for something casual to eat but I expected that and we made good use of the kitchenette in our studio and ate breakfast and lunch in the room most days. We will absolutely be back next year!!

Room Tip: The studios are very spacious! With two young boys there was lots of room for them to hang around a...

We rented a 2-room suite for three nights. We arrived on Friday March 4th at 4:30pm and were told our room was not yet ready even though check-in is at 4pm. I explained that my infant was overdue for a nap and the woman at the front desk said she would do what she could and that it would be about 15-20 minutes.

The room wasn’t actually ready until 5:40pm. The woman at the front desk said she would send us a bottle of wine for our troubles but she never did. Our bags took an additional 15 minutes to arrive and only have of them were there. The rest of our bags arrived after 6pm so my daughter completely missed her nap (so she was exhausted and cranky all night and the following day) and the valet still had left a few items in the car including my daughter’s cooler.

On Saturday we realized the thermostat in the mater bedroom was not working because the room was 63 degrees even though the thermostat was set to 72 (our monitor has its own thermostat). My daughter’s sleep (and thus mine and my husband’s) was further disrupted because she was cold. I was so tired on Sunday that I couldn’t ski.

When the gentleman arrived to fix the thermostat, he was very kind and apologetic. He said he would send a manager to come to talk to me about our problems with the hotel. The manager never arrived and it turned out that the thermostat was not fixed. My husband called to have the man come back and also asked to have a manager contact us. We never heard from the man or a manager again…

I would not stay at the Stowe Mountain Lodge again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for your recent stay and feedback. Please allow me to apologize for the trouble and discomfort you experienced regarding the late check-in and the thermostat issues. This is not indicative of our level of service nor the product we normally represent. While it does not make up for the challenges you were faced with, please contact me directly at the Lodge so we can discuss and find a resolution that suits you and your family.

Our stay at Stowe Mountain Lodge was great! We had an Alpine studio which is worth the extra money. That part of the hotel is about a year old and everything is so new.
Several things stand out.
* The Ski Valet is fabulous. Not only do your skis get taken outside and picked up from a rack at the end of the day, the boot storage has driers. No cold clammy boots the next morning, just dry and warm.
* The staff is so well trained and friendly. It seems that their main objective is to make sure you have a good time .
*Stowe's new snow making system ensured here was a good base. There seem to be snow guns everywhere.
* The restaurant was great. The menu is varied enough that there is enough choice to eat there 4 or 5 nights in a row.
All in all a great experience. We would definitely go back

Room Tip: It is worth the extra to get a studio

This was President's Day Weekend, so quite busy. The lodge is located right at the slopes and it is a beautiful place. The room was very luxurious and had its own balcony.
Service was excellent, but the one thing I would suggest is building another restaurant. Despite our best efforts, we never ate at the restaurant, because it was always booked.

Would you consider returning to the Lodge in the future.....
Got in the car after work on Friday to drive up to Stowe, VT looking forward to skiing a mountain we had not yet skied & just getting away from it all.
We checked in around 10:30pm on Friday and were led to our room. At this point we were just looking forward to relaxing & getting a good night's sleep to hit the slopes. Immediately the person assisting us with our bags noticed a few things off in the room (used soap, items of trash, no phone). As he stated "it wasn't up to our standards." It took a while before finally reaching the front desk to request a room change. We then headed to our new room. The room was a little smaller (had to close the sleep sofa & arrange a couple things) but again at this point we just want to relax. The night had gotten late fast so we head to bed only to pull back the decorative cover to find considerable brown stains. So I called the same person who dealt with our room change. Their response "oh god, I'll send housekeeping." Rather than housekeeping arriving with sheets ready to change the bedding, this person had to inspect it, then go out get sheets & only to return by walking directly into the room without announcing their entrance. We occupied ourselves while housekeeping finished. Again we try to go to bed only to notice the layers were out of order, top sheet above the comforter. We remake the bed...finally some sleep. We struggle sleeping a little as the bedding didn't seem comfortable and did not seem to be the proper size for the bed.
We woke up looking forward to a day of skiing. The skiing was great!! First time at Stowe, impressive mountain. Things continue on a good path as we take advantage of the heated pool & hot tub. Time to shower & grab some dinner... The shower lever wouldn't stay at the ideal temp, it slides down to scalding hot. We made due & don't let it stop the positive momentum. We head over to Hourglass for a nice casual meal. The staff was very pleasant & helpful recommending wings & burgers. Our food arrives to the table & we dig in. We're having a nice dinner, shrugging off our early issues; more than half way through my burger i notice something. I think to myself "if its a hair, its fine." I pull at it...it's a metal piece of brush. Again, the staff/chef at the Hourglass really jumped into action & did what they could to address the situation. We leave dinner & stop in at the front desk to ask about the checkout process, specifically showering after skiing as we were heading to visit friends for dinner on our way back. We were told "no showers available." We found this to be surprising, having a fitness center & spa, but no showers for guests who spend very good money to stay at the lodge....even though we knew there were showers as our friends used them the previous day & they weren't even staying at the lodge. We get back to our room the relax & sleep. As we head to bed it quickly becomes apparent what was wrong with the bedding the first night. It was totally the wrong bedding. We had a highly disappointing experience especially when we splurged to treat ourselves. Half the issues were never reported. Usually, it doesn't take much to make us happy.
Thumbs up to the Lodges convenience to the mountain & amenities.

The way the kids holidays fell in the UK this winter, saw us need to head for slopes a little early, so ventured from the UK to the beautiful state of Vermont for our annual ski-trip. For once, we got it right, great skiing for so early in the season and above all tremendous hotel/resort in Stowe Mountain Lodge.

The room was spacious, had a great view of Mansfield Mountain, and also had small cooking facilities when you just wanted a simple evening. Used all eating areas in the resort, because there really isn't anywhere else to eat without jumping into a car, but apart from very small issue, which was resolved very quickly and professionally, we were very satisfied with the food and the service. A short drive to Stowe opened up a world of other opportunities to dine but we were always very happy to return to the luxury of the lodge.

The ski-valet was probably the best part of the whole operation, and really took away the pain of the skiing 'experience', ski hire was easily picked up, stored each night, and ready and waiting for you the following morning. An A1 team, they had to do a lot to beat the wider resort team, but they managed to stand out with their level of service.

Generally Stowe is a resort is fantastic, compact with a good mix of slopes, and snow making galore. Both my wife and son attended lessons, and received the best training they've ever had. A real refreshing change dealing with a positive American rather than a moody French or Swiss person grunting instruction.

Well done Stowe Mountain Lodge!

Thank you for such a glowing review! We value our international travelers and are so pleased to see that you had such a successful trip. Our ski valet team is a valuable piece of the operation that certainly makes each stay run more smoothly. We hope they and the rest of the Stowe Mountain Lodge team can welcome you back for your next ski trip to Stowe, Vermont!

My wife and I went up to Stowe to ski for a few days. The snow was only okay but staying at the Stowe Mountain Lodge was the best decision ever. They helped us unload everything from our car and took the skis to the skis valet and our bags to the room. The room was a studio but was very spacious and beautifully decorated with a small mini-kitchen and a huge bathroom. The staff remembered us after every time they passed us and always said hi and had helpful tips about the lodge, restaurants or the best runs to ski. They really went out of their way to make our stay wonderful and memorable. The workout room and pool were amazing. The workout room was huge with tons of equipment and even a golf simulator that they let me try. The indoor-outdoor pool was great. It was heated to a reasonable temperature but they also had adjacent hot tubs as well as several 25M lanes for swimming laps. We went into town once for dinner but also tried the bar and restaurant in the lodge. There were a few minor service issues but everything was addressed quickly and the food was good. The lodge is not the cheapest place around (although you can find great deals sometimes on vrbo.com) but it was worth every penny, especially considering it's right on the mountain for ultimate skiing convenience.

Room Tip: you can find great deals sometimes on vrbo.com or other rental sites.
