We were on vacation at Stowe and ended up eating here twice. The service was excellent as well as the food! Loved eating downstairs, but the patio was very nice as well. There was a mix-up with our reservation and they were very accommodating. Definitely eat here on you trip to Stowe!

My husband and I had supper a few months back at Harrison's. In general, the food was fine, maybe a cut above pub food, but nothing special. The green salads were very ordinary-to-disappointing and overly chilled, with rather tasteless tomatoes, and standard prepared dressings, not home-made. I had chicken piccata and mashed potatoes, which tasted good but would have been improved with a thinner filet of chicken breast. My husband had the fish and chips, which again was fine but very average. Bottomline, the food is OK but there's no oomph, or particular refinement in its preparation. Service also was all right, although the waitress did mix up our the two different glasses of wine we had ordered. Just another indication ...

Haven't been here in a couple of years, and I'm happy to say: Better than ever! Started with cocktails, perfectly made. Special soup was roasted red pepper, tomato, and chipotle - not creamy, very fresh, VERY tasty. Members of our group had gnocchi (unusual variation), Marlin, trout, and some other more standard fare. Everything was excellent!! Slightly creative, but not reinventing food just for the chef's ego gratification. Very down to earth service and atmosphere, but first class enough that it's a great place to celebrate any special occasion. Prices are reasonable considering the food quality and service, and particularly compared to other restaurants of similar caliber.

I can't think of a better place locally to enjoy a birthday dinner. I started with the soup of the day, which was squash and my husband with a Cajun-inspired one and they were exactly right for a rainy summer evening. We sat on the porch and listened to the rain and savored every bite. Our entrees (the lobster risotto and a garden salad with grilled shrimp) were equally delicious, and we topped the meal off with a split order of profiteroles that were just perfect.

The service was excellent and the wine the waiter recommended was perfect for the day and with our orders. It's pricey for the area, but totally worth it for a special occasion.

Make sure you have reservations as we didn't a had to wait a bit but it was not long. Tuesday night and they where packed which says something right there. A wee bit pricey but the food was good. I did feel a bit cramped and got a bit agitated about it but we did have a table over the fireplace which would have been great if it was winter. Calamari was to die for!!
