My wife and I had dinner there Saturday night. We did not have reservations, so we had ourselves placed on the waiting list and started at the bar. The bar serves oysters on the half-shell, and they have more than 1 option available. (PEI, blue point, etc.) I had a 1/2 dozen and my wife had some Cod Hush-puppies with house made remoulade sauce. (It was made with lime and it was just great.) We also ordered a nicely priced Bordeaux. When out friend arrived the 3 of us ordered dinner and a Olive and fresh Ricotta cheese appetizer. The olives were just OK, but the cheese was phenomenal. I had a flank steak with chimichurri sauce and my wife had fried chicken with waffles. Both were excellent. The service was fantastic as was the food and ambiance. The facility is practically new. The entire interior has been remodeled. The chef owner is the same man who previously owned Frida's and The Blue Moon.Everything is Farm to Table, but this is Vermont, so that's not as surprising as you might think. Regardless, this is a great new option in Stowe.

The newly opened Phoenix on the Mountain Road takes your breath away. Located in the old Whiskers Building, this spacious restaurant has been completely redesigned with numerous and very comfortable seating areas, a welcoming fireplace and a large, well stocked bar, all made very compatible by the very effective sound deadening ceiling treatment. A large deck overlooking the former English Garden is soon to open. The menu is both extensive and creative with many regional dishes. The Collard wrapped Dolmas are delicious as are the hand cut fries and kale dish. If you have any room left for desert, the Waffle Chocolate Sunday is a treat as is the Key Lime Pie. The wait staff are well versed and friendly. All in All, this is an outstanding addition to the Stowe culinary scene.
