I sat at the bar -- nice menu with good variety. I opted for the stir fry; it was a generous portion and I enjoyed it. The restaurant was exceptionally busy and I thought service was a bit slow.

A traditional restaurant in Stowe. Food is good and well seasoned. Kevin, that served us, was always in hand and very attentive. The live kitchen in the dinning room is a good idea. We did not understand why they ask people to wait in the bar while there are many available tables.

Came here for lunch. Not very busy but service was great. All 11 of us had the lobster roll. Unlike most, this was prepared only with butter rather than the usual mayo and celery and various other fillers. In short, best lobster roll ever!
Based on other reviews I also got the corn chowder which was excellent as well, with lots of corn and flavor and not too much potato.
One star off for lack of ambience (sat next to bar with TV showing baseball). There is an outdoor patio that looked nice.

The Whip Bar and Grill in picturesque Stowe offers a great atmosphere including Al fresco dining on the patio. They offer an excellent menu and we happened to catch a lobster special that was out of this world. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and great food.

One of our favorite places to eat in Stowe for years has always been the Whip Bar & Grill Restaurant in the Green Mountain Inn right on Main St. The décor is very nicely done - you can actually carry on a conversation without having to yell to your dinner partners. If it is just the two of you ask for one (of the two) dbl seaters next to the fireplace - very romantic. It's also a blast to sit at the bar (they make some great cocktails)
I especially like that one can watch your food, which is superb, being prepared right before you on the line kitchen in the dinning room. You have to try their Turkey Dinner and on the weekends the prime rib is excellent. Don't forget desert - you gotta go for the Sac d'Bon-Bon. Talk about a 'chocolate fix'. Make sure you leave with at least one (or two, or three) loafs of their signature bread. It's what they put on your table w/dinner. Toast it up for breakfast with some local crunchy p-butter -wow! Makes for delicious sandwiches too.
