Buonismo! We are staying at the Trapp Family Guest Houses and here in Stowe for a week to ski and eat our way through town. Our dinner last night at Trattoria la Festa was fantastico. We lived in Italy for three years, and the Risotto was great! We hesitate to order this...it's either a hit or miss. We were wanting to try everything on the menu...the staff let us have the Risotto for half-size as an appetizer. The rest of the dinner was great, the service impeccible. Was a $180 meal for four...including tip, but not beyond our expectations for a resort town, for four people, and having one appetizer to share, entrees with salad and bread, bottle and a carafe of vino, a dessert to share and espresso and limoncello. The only problem was the background music took "frequent" breaks and it would get too quiet (not too many guests on a weeknight, off-peak)..Grazie for a wonderful evening.

Solid menu, many choices (including meatless), friendly attentive service (even at their busiest), and very good food.

I can't go more than a few days without pasta and was delighted to find TLF on a long weekend in Stowe.

If thei palce was in Boston's North End or Federal HIll in Providence it would be "good" rating but I am pretty sure it is the best in Itailian joint in Stowe. Extensive wine list but very little new world choices. Menu had manu pasta choices - food was average but for Stowe, as mentioend, above average. Staff was friednly, the place was packed with regulars.

This is definately a place the locals go to. When we arrived, we were ignored while several other couples were greeted by name and hugs. OK, I understand that. You either love the decor or not. Red and white checked curtains, old chianti bottles - starving artist paintings on the walls. Low lighting. Funky old school Italian. That being said, we were shown to a table in the corner - very romantic. Our waitress seemed stressed - and in a rush. We told her we were in no hurry, which calmed her down to the point she took to mean she didnt have to wait on us? She brought us nice warm bread, and we asked for olive oil to dip in and she wanted to know if we wanted cheese and herbs in it . Perfect - except it took 15 minutes for it to get to us. Fried calamari arrived with the hot peppers as stated on the menu, but there were almost more fried peppers than calamari. We also shared the antipasto, which had a decent selection of meats and some very nice cheeses. I had Nonni;s chicken which was fabulous. Tasted the way my grandmother used to make it. It brought back some wonderful memories. Bravo ! Hubby went old school and had spaghetti and meatballs - he said the meatballs were very good. Sauce was very nice. All in all we had a very good meal. Dont know what to say about the service - they were busy when we came in and it did seem like they were understaffed - so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Would definately go back.

The food was tasty and the service was exceptional. There didn't seem to be great variety, but plenty of options. There didn't seem to be a lot of deviation from the typical Italian menu, but everything tasted fine. A notable traditional Italian restaurant.
