My wife & I have seen many restaurants come and go at Ten Acres in the 30+ years we've been coming to Stowe. These guys are finally bringing it back to where it should be. Pork Shank was delicious but too much - great sandwich next day though! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her sole which was moist and tender. I like what the new folks have done with the place and thought the young man that served us was top notch. Terrific job - we'll be back soon to try the summer menu you talked about.

We own a time share at Trapp Family Lodge, so we've been to Stowe a number of times and have seen this particular restaurant location change hands many times. We've always thought it looked appealing from the outside, but never ventured in.

On our last visit this spring, we looked up the new place on tripadvisor and lo and behold, it had garnered in a few short months the #1 rating for Stowe! So we were thrilled to go! The new owners are simply lovely - Linda greets you at the door with a big smile and their kids discreetly run from the kitchen upstairs to their living area there. The vibe is excellent - with a great bar at the entrance and lovely views of the valley below and hills off in the distance!

The food was so good our first night, we decided to come back again the next night! Our first meal was Local Trout with Fiddlehead Ferns (such a spring delicacy in the Northeast) and a Seafood Stew which was packed with shrimp, scallops, mussels, haddock, salmon, tomato, onion and all of this in a delightful sweet potato broth! Quite unusual and delicious!

The second night we had Roasted Chicken with Winter Veg and a Sherry Jus - and Steak Frites with hand-cut fries, mesclun salad with an olive relish. Richard felt the olive relish was too overbearing and that it would have been better with frizzled leeks or crispy shallots.

We had to try their desserts at least one night, so we shared a Bourbon Pecan Pie - which was fabulous!

We wish these folks great success with their new venture and were thrilled to have had such a delicious meal two nights in a row in Stowe!

I live in Stowe and have been looking for a high-quality eatery for a while. I think the kitchen team at Ten Acres is one of the best around as I have never eaten anything but exceptional food here. Service is great and we are always warmly welcomed. Great place to go for dinner and then have a great cocktail at the bar after. Highly recommend the risotto, the pineapple salad and the grilled shrimp sandwich.

we had been there during another ownership..this was far beyond that ..excellent..we had the grilled shrimp sandwich with the home made potato chips..very good...I believe the chipotle sauce should be served on the side...I loved mine but my husband could have done with less heat..would go back there..

Thanks for your review Janice! We're glad you enjoyed our Shrimp Sandwich and homemade potato chips. It's one of my favorites. We're sorry the chipotle sauce was too spicy for your husband. We're happy to make it and anything else available "on the side". In fact, our kitchen is unbelievably accommodating to our guests special requests. It's part of the culture we foster here at the Bistro at Ten Acres where we want our customers to feel like guests in our home.

Linda and I hope you make it back to Stowe and the Bistro at Ten Acres soon -- and if you do, please stop in and introduce yourself. We'd love to meet you.

Cheers!
Mark and Linda

Dinner has been excellent - brunch is overpriced and not exceptional. Service is slow but well worth the wait for dinner.

Thanks for your review Collinsnd! It sounds like you've dined with a few time. Many, many thanks for your support and return business. Sincerely, it means a lot to Linda and I that the local community has supported us as strongly as it has.

We're sorry you found our new Brunch overpriced. Our dinner service has become known for it's great tasting handmade foods at reasonable prices. This is something we wanted to do with our Brunch as well. Linda and I spent a good amount of time researching the local market and pricing before launching the Sunday service. We settled on our entree pricing based on the fact that our guests are enjoying a handmade 3 course meal that is intended to cover both Breakfast and Lunch. The Sausage, toast, French Toast bread, home-fries, sauces and pastries are all made fresh by our kitchen just for Brunch -- even the English Muffin served with the Salmon Eggs Benedict is handmade. We feel our kitchen has created a unique, amazingly creative, fresh handmade menu. Given that the Brunch is a 3 course meal with so many handmade foods we had hoped that the quality and volume supports the price point.

But if it's our dinner you prefer, please check us out soon as we'll be rolling out some new Summer entrees very shortly.

Cheers and many thanks again for your support and feedback - we are always keen to improve!

Mark and Linda
