I went to the Gorge on 11/14/2012. It was off of Route 100 about 15 - 20 minutes from the Stowe business district. The Gorge is clearly marked on the Stowe Resort Map, the one page green advertising map you find at the VT Welcome Center and around town. The Gorge entrance is clearly marked and puts you right in the parking area. The main trail along the upper rim of the Gorge is just twenty yards off the parking lot. It is a fairly level trail that I would rate as easy. The nice things here: heavily treed forest, clearly marked trail with several signs explaining the topography and history of the place, a nice number of benches placed along the trail to sit and enjoy the sound of rushing water and beauty of this place, a safety rope strung along the rim that allows you to get a little closer look into the Gorge. If you are a serious phtotgrapher, make sure you bring a tripod because most of the views are too dark to capture handheld. If you have time at the end of your trip here, I recommend stopping at Moss Glen Falls, just east of here, again clearly marked on the green map. It is a spectacular falls but the climb to the overlook is more of a moderate level of difficulty hike.
