We have just been on a trip touring around between Toronto, Niagara, Boston etc, and decided to spend the last couple of nights at Stowe before flying back home to the UK. We chose the Timberholm based on the reviews here, and it was certainly my favourite of all the places we stayed, which ranged from swanky hotels to B&Bs.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the views are beautiful. We saw a fabulous selection of wild birds using the feeders on the terrace, including humming birds (well, it's a big deal to us!).

Our room was a good size (we chose the Timber Room) and comfortably cool, being on the north side of the building (and there's A/C anyway). We also had use of the fridge in the lounge downstairs, if we wanted it.

The breakfast was outstanding (I'm about to email them for the recipe!), with juice and coffee, blueberry pancakes (the best I've tasted), bacon, potatoes, and even an extra order of eggs because one of the guests couldn't eat sugar but Rich made eggs for everyone else too. Plus we had homemade cookies in the afternoon, and real tea.

If/when we return to Vermont, the Timberholm Inn will be at the top of our list, if I have anything to do about it :o)

This was a ladies getaway (getaway from the house, the husband, the kids etc). It was our first visit to Stowe and it was such a memorable one that we are thinking of making a tradition out of it. One thing is sure this was not my last visit at the Timberholm.

The innkeepers Rich and Dick made us feel right at home, welcoming us with cookies. The view from the spacious common area is breathtaking with mountains at the horizon. The terrasse in the garden is very large and a variety of beautiful birds will keep you company. I was taken by the hummingbirds. And breakfast was more like a breakfeast, absolute flavour and all the love of home cooking poured into every dish. Cream scones to die for!!!! They also have a refrigerator freezer to accomodate you and you can buy your own ready to eat food and use the premises to enjoy your meal. We had a really nice wine and cheese on our last evening there.

Please if you need to connect with nature and practice the "LIVE IN THE MOMENT" moto, this is the place to stay.

Will go back without a doubt, alone or not.

We just enjoyed our third stay at the Timberholm Inn and are ready to go back. We are already booked to stay during the Fall Festival in October! A great escape from the heat and geography of Florida to the lush woods and mountains of beautiful Vermont! The start to a perfect day begins with an early morning coffee on the deck, followed by a gourmet breakfast made with Vermont food products. The maple bacon matched with Cabot cheese and apple cider is only the beginning of a memorable breakfast, enjoyed in the Inn's large family dining room. It is always a pleasure to meet the other guests while our host's Rich and Derrick serve everyone their gourmet breakfast. Two breakfasts' served during our recent stay included lemon pancakes with maple bacon, and a cheese frittata made from artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes. Accompanied with fresh made bread items such as scones or sweet corn muffins, and fresh fruit produces a gourmet breakfast you cannot purchase in a restaurant. You will never leave the table hungry!
An afternoon tea and coffee with homemade pastries or cookies is served everyday.
A downstairs "recreation" room provides access to a TV, games, a library and the outdoor hot tub. A refrigerator is provided for guest's use so you can purchase a nice bottle of wine or soft drinks or other food items to enjoy during your stay. Guest's are also welcome to bring food back to the Inn as "carry-out" to enjoy your meal at the Inn....on the deck, in the yard, in the gazebo or on the front porch.
The Innkeepers are very personable and provide immpeccable service to each guest without interfering with their intent to relax and to enjoy their stay.
This well-maintained rustic Inn is a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle, so please visit their website to review the accomodations available - we highly recommend Suite #7 - and get ready to enjoy a memorable stay in beautiful Vermont. You can stay just about anywhere in a Holiday Inn or a Sheration, but there is only one Timberholm Inn! Hope to see you there.

I am a native Vermonter who now lives in California. I return to Vermont at least once a year to visit my parents and relatives. the Timberholm Inn is very conveniently located in scenic Stowe, Vermont and is situated on a very pleasant and pieceful spot just out of town with sweeping views of the surrounding forest and mountains.

Several years ago I discoverd the Timberholm Inn and have returned over an over again. The Inn is a very charming and comfortable Vermont bed and breakfast. The hosts, Rich and Darrick are extremely gracious and always see to every detail to make my stay comfortable and relaxing.

My visits to the Inn are a chance for me to unwind and get a break from visiting the relatives. I enjoy having the option to either relax in my room with a good book, or to come out to the "great room" to sit in front of the fireplace, or to enjoy the nice grounds of the Inn, and maybe chat with some of the other guests.

I especially look forward to the incredible breakfasts. The meals are hearty and delicious - good homecooking, and a great way to start the day!

I highly recommend a visit to the Inn. It's a real experience of Vermont hospitality and charm at its best!

We saw great reviews so after a research I picked this place. I was disappointed. Wasn't worth the money at all. I don't understand the great reviews posted here.

First of all, the building was rundown. The room we stayed was literally the size of full size mattress. If you are over 6feet, your head may hit the celing as well. You hear all kind of sound in your room, people flushing the toilet, walking, talking etc. The bathroom only had a standing shower, and a tiny toilet.

The TV room is dusty and full of old movies and old books. The staff was ok, but don't expect smiling face with welcome hug.

The wireless internet only works in the lounge, not in your room.

The water(drinking and shower) smells.

The owner was cheap with the breakfast. They said it would be a full breakfast, but what you get is mini corn muffin, 2 oz of fruit, juice out of bottle and some egg based dish. Please don't ask for more, the owner may get upset.

Don't stay here and ruin your vacation. Find someplace else where you get can more room or better breakfast. or stay in the franchised hotels or motels. Burlington is not too far and is full of it.

We appreciate the high approval ratings that we receive from most of our guests and we are sorry to learn that the reviewer from May 30th was so disappointed. We wish that this guest had given us the chance to address his concerns during his stay. Our inn is over 50 years old and, while it does have its minor flaws, it is well maintained and has a warm, 1940’s era charm. This particular guest chose a Compact room for his one-night stay when he booked online. Only 3 of our 10 rooms are Compact. We recognize these small rooms for what they are and we value-price them accordingly. Their private baths have a shower stall instead of a tub – hardly unusual for a small room. All our rooms have standard size toilets and ceilings higher than 7’. The basement TV Lounge has a nice video collection with both modern and classic films (sorry if a shelf needed dusting) but most guests like to relax upstairs in our well lit and expansive Great Room with the adjacent outside deck and gorgeous mountain view. Both common areas have free wireless internet – we’ve never claimed WiFi in the rooms. Our water is pure Vermont well water and while it may have a mineral taste or smell to some, it is probably a lot healthier to drink than what most folks get at home. The comments about our hospitality and food are simply unfounded. We greet everyone with a smile (and we hug our repeat guests when solicited) and do our best to make each and every individual feel at home. Our friendliness and award-winning breakfasts are what we’re known for! Everyone is welcome to seconds and, by the way, we don’t even own a “mini-muffin” pan. Too bad we can’t please everyone but we won’t stop trying.

My husband and I traveled to Stowe, VT on the last few days of our honeymoon and the Timberholm Inn was our favorite part of the trip. We selected all of our inns and hotels based almost entirely on TripAdvisor, and weren't disappointed anywhere. But the Timberholm Inn was a treat! The location is wonderful - it is just outside of downtown Stowe, kind of on the outer edge. It would take us about 2 minutes to drive into the center of all the cute little shops and restaurants. The owners were so friendly and accomodating. The breakfasts were delicious and I never could finish all of mine. The view from the back of the Inn is breathtaking. Our room was large and nicely furnished. We've been searching for the quilt on the bed ever since (but can't find it anywhere). Everything is clean, the game room is great, and the coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies in the afternoon just topped everything off! If we ever make it back to Stowe, we are definitely staying at the Timberholm Inn, no matter the season! We loved it!

We couldn't have asked for better accommadations in Stowe, Vermont. Suite 1 was beautiful. Our Innkeepers Went out of their way to meet our every possible need! Every morning we started the day with the best breakfasts I have ever had, to simply say they were delicious would not do them justice. while your eating you can look out at the breathtaking view or watch all the different birds at the feeders or heated water bowl. Every afternoon (4-6pm) we would come back to the inn for a different hot delicious homemade soup. In the evening we would sit by the fireplace, very romantic, then retire to a very cozy bed. The toughest decision we made all week was figuring out a way to extend our stay!!
