“Sorry, no tip...”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

I have eaten at this restaurant three times and thought the food and service a bit more than adequate. Earlier today, sitting at the bar, I was in the mood for a long, lazy lunch with a dear friend. The bartender, obviously not interested in serving us, thought otherwise. She would, on rare occasion, would stop bye. It was not busy. We have all felt that sad restaurant "vibe", that we were not going to have an enjoyable lunch. Indeed, we finally ordered two bowls of what can only be described as bacon chowder. No salt, pepper mill was proffered. Yes, yes, there were clams and potatoes involved, but the dominating taste of the pig precluded any seashore flavor. I had expressly asked for some bread and it arrived a few minutes after the chowder. Said bread was some sort of sweet, fruity cranberry bread, altogether not appropriate for the chowder. When asked for crackers, I was informed they were out. If out of crackers at noon, don't put that soup on the menu. Or, send an employee to the nearby Shaw's and do the right thing. At no point did the wait staff attempt any communication with us. At no point was I asked why I ate, at the most, three spoon's of my bacon soup. I paid full price. When ignored and the food ain't right, I do not tip. Tough. I am freakin' sick and tired of bad service and high prices in Stowe...

“Good beer but not good”
Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

We visited tonight as a family of 5. They are clearly short staffed but our waitress was fine. The beer was great. The food was not. Most items (we had 3 appetizers and 4 entrées) were precooked (including the Brussels sprouts appetizer which were mushy). The special was actually very good but not worth putting up with the other bad items. There are so many other good places to go. Definitely go to the pub for the beer. Do not waste your money or time in the bistro.

“Great food, restaurant was ok”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

We went for dinner mid week and we're pretty much told we had to sit in the lounge not the dining room. Normally this would be ok but the pub had live music and the lounge had some noisy patrons. The two combined made for a very noisy evening. At the very least the doors to the pub should have been shut to try a soften the volume a bit. The food was fantastic, however I was surprised that there was no bread with the meal. Also the desert menu lists espresso but our server told us that they have never had a working machine, why would you not get this fixed or take it off of the menu? You've been open for over a year now.

“Good food”
Reviewed February 13, 2014

The food was good, nothing amazing but good. We were warned when we go there that they were very busy and the food might take up to 20 min. The food did not actually take that long but our server was not the most friendly. She was ok server wise but could definately been more welcoming!

“Beautiful bar, creative drinks, good food”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

We went on a busy Friday night and had dinner at the bar, which is really quite unusual. The drinks and local beer were excellent, and the food was high-quality and well-prepared. The spaghetti squash with veggies was a little bland, but everything else was very tasty. Would definitely go back.
