The dining room at Trapp Family Lodge is lovely and well appointed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, as is the very professional staff. We loved our appetizers: Mussel Soup and a salad with arugula, frisee, goat cheese and beets. The dinner course unfortunately was disappointing. My entree was fabulous - I had the Rack of Lamb with Mashed Potatoes and a rich lamb jus. The meat was cooked perfectly and the meal was a success. Richard ordered the locally-raised Maple-glazed Chicken with roasted vegetables. The chicken was overcooked and dry and the vegetables were very undercooked and inedible. He sent his meal back.
To the credit of the restaurant, our waiter was very gracious and immediately offered to take the meal off our bill, and they also comped us a dessert, which we greatly appreciated. This is a perfect example of how to make something immediately right when a mistake is made.
The wine list is very extensive and we chose the Knight's Valley Cabernet which was sublime.
Because of how they handled the situation, we felt really taken care of and would recommend them for a return trip.
