“Warn Down and Warn Out”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

We have been going to the resort for 8 years in January. We decided to buy a guest house last year. The resort was a Five Star resort with magnificent food and service. This January we stayed and the food wasn't even edible and the service was poor. We check for a manager but was never able to find anyone in charge. We had 4 nights left at our guest house but decided to leave because of the conditions.

“View is spectacular”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Ate in the lounge for lunch, dinning room is not open. Food was just okay and is pricy. Lounge is nothing to rave about, staff was polite, but not friendly. View is lovely. Gift store was just so-so.
Glad I went but would not return for a visit.

“Summer/fall secret. Lunch on their beautiful outdoor patio.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

Sitting on the outdoor patio at the Trapp Family Lodge's "Lounge at Trapp Family Lodge" is such a treat. Usually the patio is open for lunch in the summer and fall, call ahead to be sure. Last week, wintertime, we dined inside in the actual Trapp Family Lodge "Lounge". Their burgers are grass-fed and delicious. Always on the menu are Bratwurst with homemade sauerkraut. In the summer salad items often come from the hotel's garden. Homemade soups are expensive but delicious. In the winter the Lounge offers: casual dining, good service, a limited but delicious menu, usually a wood fire, good views through the lounge's many windows, and, of course, a bar which serves the normal choices along with Trapp brewed beers. The Vienna is an especially delicious brew. Austrian ski lodges really look like this.

“Always wanted to visit”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

We were staying in Stowe and I had read about the Trapp Family Lodge. So we made time to go have lunch and visit the property. Our first step through the door took us back in time, first impression "dated and tired". The walk down the hall to the lounge reminded us of a retirement home. The lounge area highlight was the blazing fire. The service was fine and the food adequate. Wouldn't recommend.
