“Thank heaven for Black Cap!”

At last there is a quality coffee shop in the area! Consistent espresso drinks, freshly baked scones and friendly, caring owners/employees. This is the only place in the Stowe area that takes coffee seriously. Nice atmosphere featuring local artists' work. Great place for visitors to chat with locals and get some of that Vermont charm. Right across the street from the recreation path in downtown Stowe. Easy access to great shopping and photo opp's. Will definately visit again.

“Bohemian Vermont at it’s best!!!”

Black Cap is what Vermont is all about. The coffee roaster was built by hand, beans are small batch roasted & everything that comes out of the kitchen is made with love.

Great little spot for super fair trade coffee and a treat in a relaxed atmosphere. Bought a great hand made pottery mug with a carved Vermont scene - love that they had REAL local art!

“Hip and tasty in downtown Stowe”

Great place to relax for an hour, in a cool atmosphere inside or out on the porch. Wonderful pastries and anything your heart desires in the coffee front. Local art predominates the gallery in back, with fun items for sale up front. Great place to grab a handmade gift, Highly recommend you stop by!

“Perfect!”
Reviewed October 25, 2011

We walked over to Black Cap which is right on the main street in Stowe just across from the church an ing to grab something to go for our long trip in the car. The atmosphere was so great, we decided to sit at the bar to enjoy the place. My latte was creamy and roasty -- just the way I like it, and my almond scone had a pleasant crunch to the exterior, was moist inside without being gooey, and had just the right amount of sweetness. My husband enjoyed his cup of China Black tea and a made to order grilled breakfast sandwich full of locally sourced ingredients -- one of three different choices. Great display of local pottery and art to admire while we were eating, and a bulletin board packed with flyers of local event announcements and business cards. The only downer during our time there, was a local at the counter who was bending the ear of the owner behind the counter, grumbling about ungrateful tourists. Not the owner's fault, of course, but it made for interesting eavesdropping! Loved the Black Cap. Classy coffee shop (minus the grumbling local).
