“$49 Ver-monday Deal Couldn't Get Me to 5 stars”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

I got a $49 lift ticket today (normally $92) because Stowe Mountain Resort runs a special once a month called Vermondays, just for Vermont residents.

But I just can't seem to find the heart to give this resort 5 stars. Mainly that's because of things outside the resort's control such as the snow conditions. They'll probably never have the snow that Utah has and rarely do they have a day like you'd find in Mammoth or Tahoe.

The resort has excellent food (5 stars for the fries and salad bar) and very posh bathrooms. But if Stowe is competing on the services at the lodge, where is the espresso bar? You'll find it at the bar/restaurant but there was only whole milk and the lattes were not hot. If you think I'm being too tough on this place, try Alta for $75.

You see, Stowe has to compete on food and bathrooms because the snow is often 3 stars and for me, I just can't give this ski resort 5 stars until the stars are aligned for this place. I'm going to need at least a 4 star snow day, a great salad, a decent latte and be on a discount like a Vermonday again.

4 stars are very good. I'll be back next year...

“Kids had an amazing time”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

We just finished three days of skiing at Stowe Mountain and loved it. We bought our tickets online and figured we saved 40 bucks. It is 91 bucks for an adult at the hill. Our trip was right after the holiday so it was not very busy, hardly any lines for any of the lifts. While the kids skiied, the wife and i wandered around the resort and checked it out. The same company owns the whole mountain basically so the same ticket you could use at Mount Mansfield and Spruce Mountain. They even had a small gondola ride to the other lifts called Easy Access.... indeed. The food onsite is quite expensive, my wife and I paid 6.50 for two cups of tea. The staff were very friendly, always asking if someone needed help always willing to help out if needed. We took the gondola to the top in about 15 minutes, not too bad for ~4300 vertical, small vantage point restaurant with bar to have some snacks and some drinks. Lots of snow, great trail system and great weather made this trip a success

“Best skiing on the east coast!”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We love everything about Stowe! The skiing is great! Best in the East! Gondola ride cuts down on the cold ride up the mountain and the only thing that saves you in temps. in the teens! Really the only downside, the lift ticket prices are steep.

“Is Growth Good?”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

I haven't been back to Stowe Mt. in almost er, ugh, cough, 20 years & all I can say is.. WOW it's big; there's a Vail-like village at Spruce, complete with a Polo/Ralph Lauren store & other amenities. On the good side, there's more gondolas to brace you from the New England winter winds, well-groomed trails & terrain that fits all levels. There's a comprehensive children's program/Adventure Center and ski school. As expected, it's expensive; adult lift tickets = $100 per, food unnecessarily high priced high, rentals = $65 per day... so be prepared. The town has luckily kept a lot of its Vt. charm & with Ben & Jerry's Factory a couple of miles down the road, it's well worth the 7 hour drive from NY!!

“One of the Best Mountains on the East Coast!!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

This was our first time at Stowe, having been to dozens of other ski resorts on both the east and west coasts and Stowe was a pleasant suprise!!

We had fresh powder each morning of our stay, and snow all day on one of our days.

The powder was excellent, the slopes were not crowded during the week, and the runs were fun and challenging!

The distance is a bit further than many other slopes, but WELL worth it!!

And Stowe is a much more romantic town for couples than many of the other slopes on the east coast.
