My wife and I took our young niece on a week-long New England trip and I was dubious about this stop, not being a Sound of Music fan. But it was probably my favorite stop on the trip, among several good ones. The Austria-inspired architecture and art were very well done and we gained a good sense of the remarkable history of the Trapp family, which permeates the location. Our high-floor room had a great view of the mountains and was very comfortable. The Outdoor Center (indoor/outdoor pools, spa, etc.) was very nice. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent, lunch on the outdoor patio of the lounge was pretty good, and all-in-all it was a great experience. Perfect for families but romantic for couples too.

Room Tip: Higher up is generally better but most rooms appear to have decent views.

We are always delighted to learn when one of our guests is hesitant about visiting us because of the our direct connection to "The Sound of Music" and leaves us having a complete reversal of opinion by saying they had a wonderful time. We are glad you had this experience. We appreciate your compliments of the architecture and art as well as your education of the actual history of the von Trapp family. Thank you for letting us know you enjoyed our dining venues and would recommend us to families as well as romantic getaways. We hope you are able to return to visit us again. Cheers! Rebecca

Our family stayed in the guest houses the week leading into the fourth of July. Houses were clean and you can't beat the view from the deck. On property, we hiked, biked, ate at the lodge and deli/bakery, took the history tour, sang songs from the Sound of Music at a campfire, watched the Sound of Music in their theatre, traveled to the chapel, horse drawn wagon rides, sswam in pools, met many of the Trapp family members, and found time to relax at this beautiful place.
Off property, Stowe and Smuggs offer many different ways to have fun as well. Hiking to Sterling Pond, Ben and Jerry your, Mt. Mansfield nose to chin, Arbortreck zip lines, rec path to walk or bike and swim in river as well as great places to eat were
all things we enjoyed.

This will go down as a memory making vacation for our family. Can't wait to go back again.

This was our first trip to the Trapp Lodge and it didn't disappoint. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. The view was magnificent from the private balcony. We were only there for one night, but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our only disappointment was they didn't have any beer in the café to buy before we left.

We are delighted to have welcomed you for your first visit to our resort. We are so sorry to have been out of bottled beer for you to take home. We are moving into a larger brew facility in the late fall that will easily be able to reach the demand for our Trapp Lager in bottles. Hope to welcome you again to our resort. Cheers! Rebecca

This was my first visit to the Trapp Family Lodge and it was a memorable one. The mountain views from our deck were spectacular. The staff made us feel very welcome and were friendly and very helpful especially Veronica at the front desk, Sam, the bellman and Mike and Jenna in
the restaurants. The food was delicious and included Austrian/German selections. The gardens
were beautiful and provided fresh flowers throughout the dining roooms and public spaces. There was an European ambience with first class service and amenities. I would return without hestitation.

My only regret was that we were only able to stay for one night. The Lodge is well maintained and in a beautiful location. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and I hope to take advantage of their long list of available activities during my next stay!

We can't wait to welcome you again to our resort this winter! We are delighted you enjoyed our lodge, staff and location. During the winter our hiking and biking trails become cross country ski and snowshoeing trails that are awesome. Thank you for your review. Cheers! Rebecca

Last week my wife, two grown daughters and I, spent a lovely two days at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT. It is a lovely location and there truly was a family atmosphere about the place. The views are spectacular (if it isn't raining and foggy, like it was the first day we were there), and the amenities are first class. It has a European charm about it, but the facilities are 100% American. There are lovely lounges, sitting areas, a nice gift shop and three first class pools. There are numerous hiking and biking trails as well. We saw a number of families there and there are things for the kids to do as well. Food and service at the lounge and the Trapp DeliBakery down the road was first class. We didn't eat in the main dining room. If you are a fan of the "Sound of Music", this place is a must. The only problems we noted were 1) difficulty accessing some rooms on the south end of the lodge because of the stairs and lack of an elevator, and 2) some of the rooms have hide-a-bed sofas instead of regular beds. We thought we were getting a room with two beds, but didn't. Just double check if you are planning to have four to a room. Otherwise, it was a great stay away from home.

Room Tip: Book ahead online and see if they have any package specials before you book. We booked the History p...

Thank you for the lovely review of your stay at our resort this summer. We are pleased you were able to enjoy so many aspects of our property: the pools, gift shop and various food outlets, etc. We also appreciate your constructive advice regarding room locations in the southern portion of the lodge and the bedding configuration in some of our rooms - all helpful advice to fellow travelers. We hope you visit us again soon! Rebecca

This is a very peaceful and comfortable resort in a beautiful natural setting in the hills. Great access to nature walks, hikes, countryside and lots of on site facilities. Friendly staff, good food, and very comfortable rooms. We especially enjoyed our meal on the outside terrace/lounge. We were in the Tirol suite, which was very plush. Wish we could have had more time there! Restaurant was good but on the pricey side.

Room Tip: Be careful, not all rooms are air conditioned!

Our staff is delighted to be recognized with your compliment of their friendly demeanor and our kitchen staff is equally pleased that you enjoyed your meals! Our Tirol Suites are among the most popular accommodations at our resort and particularly those with fireplaces in winter. We hope you visit us again! Rebecca
