Went there on our first visit to Stowe. What a place! Just like their sign says, "A little bit of Salzburg with a lot of Vermont" - true in every sense. The architecture is completely Austrian. You feel like you're somewhere in Europe. The staff are most helpful and cordial. They have a schedule of daily activities, including guided tours of the Lodge and the property. There is something for everyone. Food is definitely European in presentation and taste. For the outdoors lovers, there's hiking (of different levels) throughout the entire property, where you can enjoy amazing views of mountains, rivers and an amazing landscape. There are bike rentals and horse-drawn carriages. There are both outdoor and indoor pools and a very well equipped exercise room and massage center. Walking down the property, you can find their deli/bakery with home-made pastries and sandwiches which you can eat on site or bring to your rooms. whether you stay at the lodge or in the guest houses/villas, you're bound to have a phenomenal stay and rest. If you remain indoors, they have several family rooms and lounges stocked with books and board games for all ages. Our five days felt like 2 weeks. Our children - 14 and 11 thoroughly enjoyed it.

Room Tip: We asked for a family room with a separate area for our children. Nice and quiet, though without windows for them (we were in the 4th level). No safes in the rooms.

I just spent two days at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The lodge gives you this wonderful feeling of being at home with their many little living rooms tucked into corners of the hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. I was going to go for a walk on a rainy day and one of the front desk staff offered me her raincoat to wear so that I wouldn't have to go out and buy one. The bell staff, waitstaff and bartenders were all so friendly! The scenery of course was beautiful with their colorful gardens, fields filled with cows, nature walks, history tours. Just a great place to spend a few days and relax.

The one word that describes our 4 night family stay at the Trapp Family Lodge would be "Perfect". The rooms were extremely well equipped and comfortable . The location is breathtaking. Every morning you wake up to a different landscape ...We had clouds and rain on one day and a bright sunny day the next and each had it's own beauty. The lodge is very close to numerous dining options in Stowe. We did try the breakfast at the main lodge and it was good but not outstanding. The lunch at the Bakery , on the other hand, was outstanding and the Trapp Lager was fantastic . Overall, this was our first trip to the Trapp Family Lodge and we will definitely be coming back here.

We are delighted by your wonderful feedback regarding your recent visit to our resort. Our management and staff are pleased to know we provided such a positive experience. Please accept our apology for the disappointment you had in your breakfast meal. We have just hired a new chef who is a perfect fit for our resort and we hope you will return to our Dining Room for breakfast under Chef Cody's tutelage. Your description of the variance in views each day is exactly what makes our location so appealing -the expansive, panoramic vista is never the same. As employees we also enjoy where our workplace is located and how nice it is to start and end a shift with a walk to our cars while absorbing the beauty of our surroundings. We look forward to your return visit! Rebecca

The first time I ascended the mountain to the Trapp Family Lodge and looked out over the vast expanse -- I thought I was in Heaven! "This is Vermont" I thought. This is what I pictured Vermont to be. It truly looks like the scene in the Sound of Music when Julie Andrews was singing on the mountain.
My husband and I took a tour of the guest houses, fell in love with them and ended up buying a timeshare unit in June and one in October. We have been coming back for more than 20 years (never swapped and never missed a week) and enjoy it each time as though it was our first time. Our children love it and now our grandchildren are experiencing the magic. They love hiking in the 'forest', seeing the cows and pigs, LOVE the indoor and outdoor pools and Jacuzzi, going downtown to the 'candy' store and eating in the different restaurants. We all love exploring the trails in Stowe and finding the amazing waterfalls, walking, biking or rollerblading on the 7 mile path that goes along the river or just sitting in the beautiful unit in front of the fire and reading our favorite book or playing a game (monopoly, clue, boggle, scrabble, puzzles). Things you just don't have time to do when you are at home.
The best part is it doesn't matter what the weather is since they have plenty of activities indoors and they have a wonderful Spa... massage, facial ahhhh
The Trapp Family has been very diligent in maintaining the timeshares over the years. They have changed furniture, appliances, provided granite countertops, new mattresses, new rugs. We are very lucky to have chosen this timeshare, friends of mine share nightmares about the timeshares they have bought in other locations.
If you ever have the opportunity to come here I highly recommend it.... Get to experience the 'magic' and serenity!

Room Tip: All guest houses are set up the same.. two bedrooms, two baths and a huge living room with view of the mountains.

WOW! Thank you for such a wonderful review of your experiences at our resort. The von Trapp's are delighted to know how many generations of your family have embraced what we have to offer. Your description of the first time you drove up the hill to visit Trapp Family Lodge is the same reaction the von Trapp family had when they first visited the property which was then, in 1942, a family farm. The property reminded them so much of their beloved Austria that they knew they had found their home in Vermont. We hope to continue to welcome your family to our resort for many years to come. We stayed, for a one week timeshare trade, in Guest House 27A, Village 3. This "Village" is the further most away from the main lodge (which is beautiful!)' but is a short walk away from the Brewery/Bakery. After reading some negative reviews regarding the guest houses, we were expecting a mediocre condo. What we found was a really nice, very roomy condo. The views are phenomenal, the living room/dining room huge, with a wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is small, but very functional with everything needed, and well lit. Mattresses have been replaced and are very comfy. Nice, comfortable homey feel. We will very definitely return!

Room Tip: All guest houses have a great view and are identical.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your recent stay in one of our Village III Guest Houses. These Guest Houses are popular for the reasons you state: far enough away from the Main Lodge but in close proximity to the Delibakery and Brewery. Thank you for sharing that the accommodation exceeded your expectation in many ways. Our Guest Houses are always in high demand for exchange and rental in part due to the comfort and amenities we offer at our resort. We look forward to an opportunity to welcome you back to Trapp Family Resort again! Rebecca
