“LOVE!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the lodge over Veterans weekend. We loved it! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our room was great and cozy. The main lodge was fun to explore along with the grounds.Complementary coffee in the morning was nice and strong and the afternoon tea and cookies hit the spot after a fun day . I wish that we were there a different time of year to enjoy the snow but we still had a great time. We're already planning our next visit!

Great hotel on equally great property. Terrific views, lots of trails to hike, great hospitality and freindly helpful staff. Lots of activities, including wine tasting, pool, hot tub, sauna, fire places in common areas. It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Great value for your money.

Room Tip: All the rooms in the old part of the hotel have terrific views.

If you are a 'Sound of Music' fan, then this is a place for you to enjoy. Sitting high on a hill outside Stowe Vermont, this is a fantastic hotel. We stayed in Rm 236. Typical luxury hotel room, with a King bed, sitting area, TV, WiFi, and nice bathroom. The bonus of this room was the ability to walk out the outside door onto the lawn from the 2nd floor. Beautiful property with great views of the mountains of Vermont in their fall folage splendor. After checking in and getting settled, we made reservations for dinner and then walked around inside the lodge. We took a tour throughout the hotel on our own There were tours available, but we had missed them for the day. On our travels, we encountered a person playing a Harp in one of the rooms downstairs and numerous conference rooms, libraries, music rooms, a beautiful bar, etc. The type of things you expect in a luxury hotel. The restaurant is a bit more upscale than just a ski lodge, but the meal was enjoyable. Desert, my wifes favoriete part of any meal, was fantastic. a perfect end to a great meal. Room and dinner went through a quick $400+, but if you want the experience of staying at the von Trapp Villa, then this is the place for you. There is a cemetary plot on the grounds for the von Trapp family, so there is history, beauty, and memories for those who are 'leaf peeping' in Vermont.

Stayed here in Oct 2012 with 3 friends. What a fantastic experience. Staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Doormen, valets. History is well presented with the Maria documentary and presentation by Karla, Maria's great granddaughter. Very comfortable rooms with beautiful fresh flowers everywhere, antiques throughout the Lodge, tasty meals, many fireplaces to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese and crackers. Great hiking paths. Huge outdoor hot tub overlooking the mountains.
A+ experience

Room Tip: We had a room where we walked right out onto the side lawn just around the corner from the lounge...

Thank you for your lovely review of your recent stay with us. we are delighted to know we provided a "fantastic experience" for you and your friends. Our staff will be quite pleased to know they met your expectations. Carla enjoys sharing the von Trapp story with our guests and presents the story in her own unique and charming way. She will be very pleased to know she made a positive difference for you. Thank you for your compliments about our fresh flowers throughout the lodge, roaring fires in common rooms and the Lounge and our fresh artisan cheeses and crackers served during the cocktail hour in our Lounge. Glad you enjoyed our awesome hot tub! We hope to welcome you back again to our resort. Rebecca

Stayed here last month with extended family and wasn't very impressed. A stinting, ungenerous kind of place with no in-room coffee, coffee offered late (at 7 or 7:30) in the cafe with not so much as a slice of complimentary bread to go with it. When you did order breakfast, you couldn't get by without paying at least $20 even for something modest. We didn't even try for lunch and dinner. This place even charges for "going to visit the cows" for heaven's sake. Beautiful lounging spaces and family-gathering rooms, although they ought to stock them better with games that aren't missing pieces. (Blokus without squares and a checker board with no checkers, etc.) We finally found one complete scrabble game for the dozen of us to share. Let me say the workers were excellent! Attentive, sympathetic, and efficient. Rooms very nice and comfortable, too. I guess I just picked a place that was out of my price range,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are sorry you were not made aware of the complimentary coffee served in our lobby from late at night through the very early morning hours before the Lounge complimentary coffee is made available from 7:30am until 10:30am daily. Our breakfast menu is extensive and includes choices of a buffet with fresh fruit, yogurt, baked goods, meats and many other breakfast delights. We also have a menu for a la carte ordering of pancakes, eggs, french toast, omelets, and daily specials. Our Main Dining Room is very elegant with white tablecloths set with silver and fine china and waiter service. The view from our dining room looks out over the Worcester Mountain Range with breathtaking views - a wonderful way to begin the day over a leisurely breakfast. Thank you for bringing to our attention the need for our game room to have a new supply of games with missing pieces. We will follow-up on this right away. Thank you for letting us know our staff was attentive and efficient. Rebecca

Travelling from Embrun, Ontario, we booked 2 nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Ended up extending by an extra night, we liked it so much. The Lodge is beautiful, the staff extremelly friendly (especially Veronica at the front desk), the trails peaceful and pretty and the food very good. This was a memorable way to celebrate this milestone in our lives. Tks to the Trapp Lodge for making it such a special time for us.

Room Tip: Room 323 was on the sunrise side of the mountain. It was amazing in the morning.
