“Great resort experience”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

As a resort, Topnotch not only gets graded (by me at least!) on hotel services and amenities but also on the additional services and features that comprise a "resort".
As a hotel, the rooms are clean, well designed and outfitted as I would expect for a high end hotel. On site restaurant is above par and the only real drawbacks I have found is the relatively small elevator and occasionally challenging parking when large events are being held there. It's beautifully located and the views over the pool of Mount Mansfield are breathtaking. A little thing, but the availability of a small guest space in the room refrigerator allows you to store a few cold beverages or snacks. It's a nice touch.
As a resort, it gets even better. The multiple heated indoor and outdoor pools and Jacuzzi's are large, clean and inviting. Separate adult and family pools are a nice touch. The Spa is simply wonderful with a full range of services available. The Concierge and staff are friendly and helpful. They help "make" the resort experience. We have traveled to Topnotch both as a family (with our four children) and as a couple. Every visit has been wonderful and that is why we keep coming back!

Room Tip: The views of Mount Mansfield overlooking the outdoor pools are best!

I just returned from Topnotch and now I am trying to figure out when I can go back! I absolutely love this hotel, so cute and quaint but yet a great place to enjoy spa, drinks and good food.

I loved our room and the bed was very comfortable. We did not have mountain views, but instead we had wonderful trees outside our window which gave a great feeling. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and the spa and pool area is a must visit.

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Top floor (3rd) will most likely be more quiet. Otherwise 227 was excellent:)

We stayed 2 nights at the Topnotch and really enjoyed the resort. Grounds are beautiful, interior has all kinds of little sitting areas, bar areas, a small gift shop. Very cozy. Staff was extremely friendly, held the door open every time we went in or out, chatted about the weather, and offered ideas for places to eat or visit every time we asked. They shuttled us into town for only the cost of a tip for the driver. Very convenient.

Our king room was large, clean and comfortable. We did have to travel quite a ways through the maze of hallways and ramps to get there, and took the teeny elevator up to the 2nd floor when we had luggage. Only 2 of us and our luggage fit in it, that is how small it was. Our room was quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again next time.

Ate at Norma's twice for dinner. Food was very good though for me the menu was somewhat limited. Noise level in the restaurant was very loud, even though it wasn't full. I would only eat there again for the convenience. There are a lot of other places nearby to dine.

4 Girlfriends spent 2 nights at the resort and we had an extremely nice time. The resort is clean and comfortable with lots of amenities. The heated outdoor pools and hot tub are great to experience during the crisp fall mornings and evenings. There is a fantastic view from the pool deck and Norma's, the restaurant over the mountain. The last morning we were treated to a gorgeous rainbow. The room was very spacious for 4 people, with a large closet couch/bed, chair and ottoman, and another desk and chair. Great location on the mountain road, easy drive over the Notch which was provided fabulous views. In both directions there are many restaurants and shops. The number one benefit of this hotel is the staff and the service, everyone helped to make our stay the most enjoyable, they really seemed to enjoy their jobs and it showed in their smile and the service. One night we ate Normas and had a fabulous dinner and great service, we ate breakfast their each morning, again, great food and service. The last night, we wanted Fondue and the concierge, Carol suggested a place, called and made us reservations all in a matter of minutes, which gave us more time to enjoy the property. Later I called to get a taxi to dinner, and the man who answered the phone offered that they have cars that can take you and pick you up in town. That worked out so great, we could enjoy our dinner and drinks without having to worry about driving back on the dark, wet roads in the rain. The hotel was full - but the experience never felt crowded or too busy for the staff to stop and smile or offer their help. We will come back and suggest it to others.

Room Tip: Some rooms are a long walk from the lobby or elevator and their are ramps between the hallway connec...

We just returned from a three night stay.... Everything was perfect! The staff was attentive and friendly, the restaurant did not disappoint with wonderful views and dining, the grounds were beautiful and the accommodations far surpassed our expectations. We would definately return here for another family trip and highly recommend it!

Topnotch is a picturesque mountain lodge with beautiful views. My deluxe double room was modern, clean, and larger than I expected. There is a complimentary shuttle that will take you to nearby restaurants & bars. We tried The Matterhorn. The bar is fun but don't go hungry because service is slow. We took the concierge's advice and hiked to Bingham Falls. It's only a 5 minute drive from the hotel and an easy hike to the waterfall. We visited in late September and the autumn colors were just starting to paint the trees. It was gorgeous.

This was my second stay at TopNotch and it is a most wonderful hotel. The staff there are exceptional and all very helpful. in particular I can recommend Carol as a brilliant concierge. Aaron Black is also a great manager and Jo and Rachel superb for our dining experiences. So thank you everyone.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The spa is sensational - 3 pools, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, steam, sauna and then also men's and women's private steam, sauna and hot tub too.

Breakfasts and dinners were all delicious too.

I really like Stowe and Vermont and hope to be back many times.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms numbered above 30 - ie 230 or 330 as they are near the fans above the kitchen.
