Great location, so close to Stowe for skiing, along with short distance to Ben and Jerry's and Cabot Cheese, Cider Mill, etc. I found the Inn itself, just okay, but definitely go elsewhere for eating. The wait staff is always stressed, not too friendly and the food itself needs much improvement. However, if you're looking for a place to crash with a decent price and swimming pool and hot tub on premises, along with massages, this is a good place.

We had a great time, several families with teenage boys. The place was clean, the staff was friendly and hospitable. We hope we are able to come up some other time. Not a five-star resort, but a nice place to lodge and capture the beauty of Stowe.

I recently arranged a group tour visit to the Golden Eagle Resort. We were not disappointed. From the time we arrived to our departure, the hospitality shown to us by Doug and staff was exceptional. Begining with the welcoming Wine and Cheeze reception, the evening dinner, and the menued breakfast, the service was above and beyond expectations. My only regret is that I didn't book a longer stay. That will be a criteria of our next visit.

Rooms were large and exceptionaly clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The group enjoyed the trail walks around the property, the pool, and the quietness of the property with it's fish ponds set among the many mature trees.

I'm already making plans for a return visit, which will include most of the original group.

My wife & I stayed here May 18, 2011. I had "Pricelined" it & got the room for (1 night) $75 plus tax & fees. For that price it was adequate. Looking more like a large motor court the resort consists of a number of 2 story detached buildings each with perhaps 10-16 rooms. There were indoor / outdoor pools & a workout room. All looked well maintained. The room itself was motel sized with a low pile, almost industrial carpet. The King bed was very hard, no problem for me but my wife did not have a comfortable night's sleep. There was a very small kitchenette, but it only had a refrig. & sink , no microwave so that was almost useless. The small bathroom was very old & the tub/shower seemed almost institutional to me. If I had been a skier, after a long day on the slopes, the small tube would have been inadequate to soak my aching body. One could use the hot tub in the workout room, however. The furniture & TV were quite old, though not particularly worn. All-in-all OK for a nights sleep but just that. I must point out it was VERY CLEAN. The location was great for seeing Stowe & Mt. Mansfield. The bottom line? If you can get it for under a $100/night it's worth it, just don't expect to relax in 5 or even 4 star comfort. BTW--breakfast was quite good!

we stayed at the Golden Eagle for two nights last week. It was very clean, we are the type to move mattresses & furniture. I didnt find anything dirty at all. The location was perfect, close to everything we wanted to do. And the breakfast was delish! The pool was the kids favorite place & it was open for long hours which was good! Very nice place to stay & will be going back in the summer!!

Room Tip: i think most rooms have a great view.

we stayed for 1 night as part of our citytours tour and this was the cheapest looking of the hotels we stayed in. The rooms were very 'motel' with thin walls and although clean and comfortable were very dated and the furnishings needed renewing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and coffee and cookies were available in the afternoon for all to have, No individual toiletries were available only dated dispensers on the wall. One good thing was that the pool was being cleaned so we were given free passes to use the facilities at the Trapp Family Lodge which were excellent.

Recently stayed 3 nights at Golden Eagle with my husband and 2 teenage sons. Good experience - conveniently located between mountain and town. Enjoyed the breakfasts and the pool / hot tub. Not the fanciest of resorts - which didn't really matter to us since we were only looking for somewhere comfortable to stay after a days of skiing. Staff was extremely nice/helpful and rooms were clean and quiet..
