I stayed at Hartness House as part of a ski club package deal so the rates were very reasonable. There were 40-some of us and we stayed in the "annex" (which is a separate wing off the historic main house) so my experience may be different than one staying in the old house. The room was very clean and perfectly comfortable, but could have used a bit of updating. The bathroom fixtures are circa 1920 with separate spigots for hot and cold water (which makes washing your face a bit of a challenge) and the tub drained very slowly. They seem to be slightly miserly with the heat and one pair in our group had to wear several layers to bed because the ventilation system was blowing cold air for hours before our arrival. We were served the "group breakfast" which was buffet style and really quite good -- scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes or waffles, with coffee, juice and pastries. There were also complementary hors d'oeuvres one evening and they have a well-stocked bar. The dining room was pleasant and comfortable as are the lobby areas in the main house, though it is all a bit faded and worn. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The place worked well for our group who were really there to ski, but I'm not sure I would recommend this inn as a winter destination.
