The staff were extremely pleasant, and service was friendly and prompt. The dinner menu has some out-of-the-ordinary choices, and the food is excellent and creatively presented. The crab-stuffed ravioli with crabcake and the lobster pasta were superb, as was the Caprese salad. A Ceasar salad was only so-so, though. We sat upstairs; it would have been quieter there, but the air conditioner beside our table was rather noisy. However, we were able to turn it off after a while. The chairs upstairs were not very comfortable. The Blue Paddle is maybe a little pricey, but not unreasonable, given the quality of the food. I would absolutely go back again.

Having eaten at the BP numerous times with friends, we know the food and service are always excellent. On the way back from the Montreal airport on Saturday, we found ourselves running out of steam while still an hour north of home. We called the BP from the Plattsburgh-Grand Isle ferry at about 5:30 p.m. (10 minutes away) and asked if there was any way they could seat us for an early dinner. Mandy scoured her reservations and said she needed the table at 6:30. She trusted us when we said we could order and eat quickly, and we ended up with time to spare. Very accommodating!

Food here is of excellent quality. The atmosphere is like being at a big family gathering, with long-lost family members seated at different tables. The owners are most awesome, and the staff is always attentive.
The food is never a disappointment. Always great, and most often "close your eyes and tip your head back, and ignore everything around you" delicious.
I can't wait to go back. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation.

Friend made a reservation, the restaurant is in a small home. The menu is small but full of wonderful choices. Everything is homemade. Gourmet all the way. Enjoyed our evening, although the one negative is it is near a fire station, that was a bit distracting at times. Reservations are a must.

Let's start by saying I can't wait to go back. Nuff said, right?
But there's so much more that can enhance that opinion. Living across Lake Champlain(in far NE New York) from the islands, I've driven by the Blue Paddle Bistro lots of times during the seven years it's been open. Spurred by two colleagues at work and then by Chef Phoebe getting a runner-up award as best chef in VT in a survey taken by Seven Days (a weekly paper out of Burlington), I asked some friends to give it a try.
Wow, what an enjoyable dining experience! And I've returned with other friends twice in the last two weeks and those visits showed me that the first time wasn't just a fortunate night when they were 'on'. The place is small and especially in the summer and weekends is almost always crowded--reservations are highly recommended--as the patrons are seated in 4 small rooms. When filled, which it usually is, it can be pretty noisy, but I consider that a nice 'buzz' of people having a good time. And if you listen carefully, you'll hear the same sound coming from other tables that was coming from ours: mmmmmmmmmmm. Because the food served, from the appetizers to dessert, is so damned good. The menu(which can be seen on their cool website www.bluepaddlebistro.com) has an excellent variety of choices. Between my friends and I we tried at least six different entrees and 5 appetizers and every one got rave 'reviews'.
The bread served was ordinary compared to everything else but that's a minor point. All these were presented with panache and in nice portions that several of us noted left us filled but not bloated, that is, satisfied. And throughout the time we were there, from our arrival to our goodbyes, the entire staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, with us feeling that they were this way not because it was their job but because they enjoyed interacting with people.
The small bar area provided an excellent selection of drinks as well, but it was the food that had us all leaving with the feeling that we not only were going to come back but hoped it would be sooner rather than later. The cost was a bit pricey but definitely not unfair; you get what you pay for.
