“Motel Masquerading as a Hotel”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

I booked this hotel at a not so inexpensive rate after reading the reviews here and I was truly surprised that no one mentioned how small and inadequate the rooms were. Hilton should be ashamed of themselves to have this motel be part of their offering. I've stayed in many Doubletree hotels and this is NOT a doubletree that you would expect. I'm now skeptical to stay at another. We stayed in a double room. The rooms are so small that you simply cannot pass each other in the room. The bathroom, if you can call them that, is tiny. The shower head is also about 5 feet 8 so if you are taller you have to squat to take a shower. I have never been in a hotel in my entire lifetime of having travelled all over the world where the shower wasn't well above your head. Honestly, we felt taken. Truly, I am unable to understand how anyone designing such a room can believe that anyone would be comfortable. It is true that the staff is nice, and the rooms are clean but so are the staff and rooms at the neighboring hotels, but they are more comfortable. My advice is bake your own cookies and find somewhere else to stay. We did.

Thank you for your stay with us. You are absolutely right, we are more mature property. Our property has been functioning as a successful hotel in Burlington since the 1960's. Although we have not changed our physical footprint since the hotel was built, we have undergone many improvements to keep our hotel as successful as it is. In 2004 we added 32 new suites to our property and in 2006 every one of our bathrooms was renovated specifically to comply with Hilton brand standards. As a result of these changes, Hilton invited us to become a member of their family. Since our conversion to the DoubleTree Brand in 2005 our guests have rated us one of the top 20 of all Doubletrees in the nation, we finished 2011 as number 18! Hilton is extremely proud to have us in their family. They have awarded us with the coveted Care Cup in 2008 which recognizes extraordinary customer service and the Crystal Cookie for our exemplary community service. I can proudly and honestly say that The DoubleTree by Hilton, Burlington sets the trend for hospitality in the Burlington area. We are not the biggest, we are not the newest and we are not the shiniest, but we are the best!

My girl and I love the the Doubletree when we come to BTV this is our home away from home. Great service with a smile the cookies are amazing my girlfriend and i can never just have 1. The rooms are clean and cozy up-to-date (Trader Duke) a bit $$ but Omg there blueberries pancakes Yummie.try there Chicken wings and deserts you won't be despondent. Next time you stay in BTV we Recommend the Doubletree 5 mins off the airport.

Very lovely hotel. We really enjoyed the fresh chocolate chip cookies on arrival. The room was very nice and clean (1 King room for 2 non-smoking). The only downside was the restaurant (trader duke's) which was very below standards and very pricey. (next time we will go to a restaurant on church's st.) We suggest Das Beerhaus.

We've stayed here several times when visiting our child at UVM. The friendly and helpful staff always make us feel welcome. The rooms are spacious with nice amenities. Hotel pool - not glamorous but a nice treat. Good size hot tub as well. Adequate workout facility. Always like the cookies. They allow pets as well. Restaurant good for breakfast. Common areas and halls probably ready for a makeover. Packages are usually pretty good values.

Thank you for your thoughtful review of our hotel, and I am so happy to hear that you have consistently had positive experiences with us. Our entire hotel team strives to make every guest feel welcomed, appreciated, and comfortable, and we are proud to be consistently ranked among the top 10% of all DoubleTrees in the Americas. You will be happy to know that we have recently completed the makeover of our hallways throughout the property, and the fresh wallpaper and new carpet certainly offer a refreshed appearance. I hope we are able to welcome you back to our hotel again soon!

I have stayed at this hotel several times in the last couple of months when traveling to Burlington, VT for business. On two occasions, I've checked out, had cancelled flights, and then checked back in for another night. The hotel offers a "distressed traveler" rate if you miss your flight or your flight is cancelled. That's a substantial benefit that has caused me to make this my primary hotel in Burlington.

The location offers easy access to the Interstate. The area isn't wakable, but you can drive pretty easily to UVM and the Church Street area. The hotel restaurant ("Trader Dukes") offers good service, and good affordable comfort food.

The hotel is in the process of some needed and timely upgrades (they were replacing the carpet when I last stayed there).

The layout of the hotel is approximately a "u-shape" with two floors and a pool in the central courtyard. Some of the rooms are very far away from the main check-in area; but you can park close to your room.

The front-desk staff are friendly and remember repeat guests. Wifi (slow) is free for HHonors Gold+.

I would definitely stay here again if I went to BTV for business.

There is a shuttle that will take you to the airport (even to make the first flight out).

Room Tip: The king suites are a nice upgrade (they have a fridge, microwave, minibar, etc.) but they're a...

Used this hotel as a base for Vermont sightseeing. We stayed in a King Suite which was large, comfortable and fairly well equipped, had a full size fridge & freezer (unlike the regular rooms). Best to go for these rooms if you are staying a few days although they are somewhat more expensive. Good supermarkets nearby. Had breakfast included with Hilton Honors, Trader Dukes very good during the week but the Sunday exeperince was terrible, kept running out of food, coffee flasks, plates, cutlery. Far too busy trying to accomodate both hotel guests and outside people. Go somewhere else for breakfast on Sunday or go really early!

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. Overall, I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. I am happy to hear that you found the suite that you stayed in to be comfortable and spacious. These suites are certainly ideal for families traveling together or business travelers who require a little extra space. Although I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the complimentary breakfast that is offered to our Diamond and Gold Hilton Honors guests, I am sorry to hear that your experience in our restaurant, Trader Duke's, did not meet your expectations on Sunday. Our restaurant has been a local's favorite for years, and our Sunday brunch is one of Burlington's most popular Sunday spots. As a hotel guest, we are happy to accept reservations for you, as Sunday's are often extremely busy. I certainly apologize that your experience in the restaurant on Sunday did not match the positive experiences in your previous visits that week. I hope that we will be able to welcome you back to our hotel once again and provide you with the wonderful Trader Duke's Sunday Brunch experience you deserve!

My friend booked this hotel for a 3 night stay. The 4 of us split a room (a couple on the pullout couch and a couple in the bedroom). The room was clean, roomy, well lit and comfy. And shockingly, the pull out bed was comfortable!

My husband had to work out of the room for a while and had no problems. He's a voiceover guy so not only does he need a quiet atmosphere, but also solid wi-fi and several outlets.

We all got a chance to use the gym/pool once or twice. Both areas exceeded my expectations! The gym had lots of nice equipment, towels, extra headphones, etc... Everything seems clean as well.

The hotel is located in a really nice spot. It's right off the highway. Plus, it's in walking distance to a mall, some restaurants and other shops. It's always nice when you don't have to drive everywhere.

The staff was really friendly. There was always housekeeping staff in the halls and they would say hello was you passed.

We were hoping for free breakfast, but no such luck. The coffee in the room was surprisingly ok. And, there's a Starbucks across the street.

I totally forgot about the cookies....man, they're a nice touch.
