“One night was enough”
Reviewed August 13, 2005

Convenient location, on Route 2 off I-89 and minutes from downtown Burlington, but so are a dozen other chain hotels. After reading good reviews, I was somewhat disappointed with the room. Perhaps a suite would have been preferable for our family of four, as the regular rooms are cramped. The reception staff was courteous and prompt and there was free coffee and Internet in the lobby. The continental breakfast was more than sufficient for our needs. As for the room, the beds were shabbily made with ill-fitting sheets, the bathroom was narrow and difficult to manoeuvre (no one in our family is large) and the closet floor had not seen a vacuum for some time. I lifted the ice bucket to find a huge coffee stain on the tray below from the previous occupants. The "heated" outdoor pool was cold and not very clean; the vinyl lining was ripped in the shallow end by the stairs. The day we checked in was rainy - and while it wasn't a stellar day to be swimming, those with children will understand that it doesn't matter what the weather is like when it comes to swimming! There was nowhere to put a towel down to keep it dry. In the breakfast area, I inquired whether or not I could make a tray and bring it to the room. A somewhat condescending staff person explained to me that was what the tray under the ice bucket was for (yes, the same one that had the nice stain on it). I returned to the room to wash the tray and bring it downstairs, where she commented how clever I was to have found the tray and that it always amused her how many people didn't realize that's what it's there for. Whatever. I think if I were paying under $100 for this hotel I wouldn't complain. All in all it was okay, but I will seek different lodging the next time I'm in Burlington. We did find a terrific place to have dinner that night - at Parima's Thai restaurant on Pearl Street, complete with great food and a live jazz band.

Stayed here for a night and, like other Comfort Inns, it was above par. Check-in was fast and our room was large, extremely clean and quiet. The mattresses are quite good as are the pillows and towels are rather fluffy. The bathroom was large with a huge counter. Breakfast is included and you can choose from granola and yogourt to fresh fruit, donuts, muffins, varieties of bread or English muffins. Juices and tea and coffee. Honestly, no complaints whatsoever! The location is fine for getting around as its near highway interchanges. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The photo of the hotel posted here is wrong. Its from another Comfort Inn.

I sort of disagree with the person suggesting Al's French Fry. The food is obviously not prepared on-site except for the potatoes. Portions are similar to children's size meals at any fast food chain. I won't be going back...

For anyone considering the Holiday Inn Express, you should know that entire stretch of highway is being redone and its noisy and dusty.

I am a business traveler who is used to staying in much grander accomodations (Westins, Crowne Plaza, etc.) But when in Burlington for pleasure I always make sure to stay at the Comfort Inn in S. Burlington. Hotel is conveniently located to the UVM campus and is within walking distance to a drugstore & grocery store (across parking lot), bagel shop (across street), pizza place and Burlington's famous Al's French Fry. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast in the morning which serves as a great meeting spot if you are in town for weddings, ski weekends, or other activities where you might have mulitiple rooms & guests. The hotel is also about a 5 minute drive from the Burlington airport and right off the I89 S. Burlington exit. The accomodations are standard, but clean and comfortable. As a picky hotel guest, I avidly recommend this Comfort Inn.

My husband and I stayed here in September, 2003.We booked a one-bedroom suite and were very surprised to find a man's (previous guest) pajama bottoms left behind in our bedroom. There was only one luggage trolley for a 3 storey building (what do handicapped guests do?), but the best part was the complimentary breakfast. A burly staff member stared at all the guests while eating, obviously to discourage pilfering, but really killing our appetite.
