“WORST PLACE EVER!”
Reviewed September 19, 2007

Never go here! You are wasting time and money. It has a serious problem with upkeep and cleanliness. We stayed here during the Vermont marathon since most hotels were booked. My husband was running and never could get a good night rest because the bed was uncomfortable. The bathrooms were moldy with waterstains on ceiling. There was a huge hole in the wall near the front door as if the front door was slammed into the wall. It was suite and the fire alarm was not functional (not even connected) but the bedroom one was intact. The curtains were tattered with metal hooks on the floor ( not good for active toddlers). It looked dirty and felt dirty. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. I would never stay here again. I strongly recommend not staying here if it is the last place in the Burlington area. It was the worst place.

This hotel was one of the worst i have EVER stayed in (I travel extensively for both business and pleasure).

We took a chance and booked this room because most of Burlington was sold out due to conferences and such. Our room was in a motel style row of rooms. From first appearance driving into the complex, it didnt' look that bad and the price was definitely LOW for the area (we paid $56 for 1 night with 2 double beds).

Even given the low price - I think we overpaid! The room was dank, dirty and dark. The floor in the entry way was peeling and had holes in it in spots. The tissue holder and most of the lamps had significant rust on them and the tissue box was laid on the night stand (so I guess the holder was broken). The room was on the first floor (motel style) - but had a full sliding glass door on the wall opposite the door. Since the motel is located directly on Route 7 - you had to keep the curtain completely drawn to have one ounce of privacy - which left the room very dark and dreary.

The mattress and pillows were hard, lumpy and from teh looks of the mattress fabric it was manufactured some time in the 1970s. This is the kind of motel where you want to sleep with your clothes and don't even want to put your bags on the comforter for fear that it hasn't been washed in about 30 years.

To sum it all up - even $50 was too much to pay for this room. My husband I considered asking for our money back and finding a more suitable room - but a lot of hotels were sold out and we needed a place to sleep (even briefly). We both took the fastest showers ever and checked out before 7am.

Needless to say, we did not partake in the "free continental breakfast" - which my husband scoped out and told me consisted of cheerios or raisin bran.

My advice is to STEER CLEAR of this one!!

We were on our way to go camping and it was pouring rain out so we had to get a hotel...
This place is badly in need of an update!
It was very damp feeling and in need of a few repairs, with a little work from the owner's I'm sure this place could be really nice.
We paid 79.99 for a Thursday night, which really isn't bad for the area (Burlington, VT).
Definetly go to the Vermont Pub and Brewery downtown Burlington, one of the best restaraunt experiences ever!

I booked a room at this Econo Lodge for a ski trip, last April. Not knowing the area, I decided to stay one night in the Burlington. As this was late in the season I was able to get a very good rate on the honeymoon suite with a hot tub. The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk person that checked me out got me a reduced rate at another Econo Lodge, with the same type of room outside Killington. Thank you Econo Lodge of Shelburne for all you did. Oh, and the waffles for breakfast were great!

We were passing through town and thought a 'name' establishment would beat the collection of small motels along Shelburne Road. That was a mistake. This hotel doesn't look too bad from the road, but if you pay attention to the subtle clues like the dirty entrance to the office, you'll know to skip it. Unfortunately, we arrived late and worn out from a long day driving in the rain. The hotel has two sections - the suites are in two newer buildings; the regular rooms in a two or three buildings that don't appear to have been renovated for 20 years and will remind you more of one of those old run-down budget motels. Our room had a strong cleaning odor, a toilet that ran continuously, two old, sunken and creaky mattresses, a very tiny tub/shower with mold showing at the ceiling, and an AC unit that gave me a head cold. There is nothing to recommend this place. Hope this review saves someone the trouble of a stop here.

We stayed there for 1 night at the end of September. The staff was extremely nice.
The room was ok, refinished, but you could tell where they patched holes in the walls, and the floor was uneven in some spots. Very clean though. Walls were a little thin, the next morning we were woken up by our neighbor talking on the phone.
The breakfast was fantastic..the staff made waffles for you! Very yummy!
For the price, the pleasant staff, the breakfast, the clean room, I would probably stay there again.

Upon check-in they did NOT have my reservation of 8 nights. Instead there was only a 1 night reservation in a very dirty small room instead of a clean suite! When we returned to the office, we were given a choice of 2 other small rooms, but still not a suite. Was told to check with the Manager in the morning. Upon checking with the manager in the morning, was finally given a suite with a coffee maker, but only one vanity. Reservation said coffee maker and two vanities. Suite was okay, although could be cleaner and the drawer for clothes was broken, and very frustrated about the process of finally getting there. Cleaner than the small room on the bottom floor where there was a smell and ants. Will never go to an Econo Lodge again! Too much stress and anxiety.

Dear Sir,

I read your review and am heartily disappointed. I just want to let you know that we have a new ownership & management now. The Econolodge Inn & Suites is taken over by new owners on December 15, 2005. We have renovated it completely and since then we have been getting good comments and reveiws from our valued guests.

We always welcome your suggestions and will look forward to serve you better in the future.

Thank You.
