The cabins at Serenity are far from upscale, but they are clean and very well maintained. The current owners take pride in the property they have owned for 25 years and in fact live on the premises. The setting is peaceful and private. We got a three room cabin with two full beds plus a twin all for under $100 a night. This is square deal.

Room Tip: They are pet friendly so ask if you would like to bring your dog.

Ever have your long awaited vacation spoiled by motel noise? Banging feet from the floor above, shower and/or toilet flushing all hours, kids running up and down the corridors and stairs, slamming doors, noisy ice makers well you get the drift. Here you can have your own private little cottage with none of that. You won't even here the car next door pulling in or a truck passing on route 7A with the "white noise" AC going. The cottages are a scene from yesteryear reminding one of the better times gone by. John and Cecelia are great Innkeepers and I enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to their Innkeeper stories. The cottages are simple but clean and complete with enough amenites to keep one comfortable for any length of stay (they will rent a cottage for a long extended stay in some cases) but prefer the vacationer. Great eating places, shopping, golf, swimming, hiking in any direction. Go north for Arlington and Manchester region and south for historic Bennington. Rates are very reasonable so you just can't go wrong staying here. They are not for the traveler who is looking for fancy but if you want a quiet retreat and friendly hosts this is your place to stay.

Room Tip: Cottage 8 is the last in the line furthest from busy during the day route 7A. Regulars ask for that...

I stayed for two nights at Serenity while visiting the Bennington area for family history research. The cabins are not fancy, but they are clean and well-maintained. The Wifi connection was a plus as I was able to follow up on finds from the day's work. The inn-keepers are friendly and attentive. This place is a great value.

It's like a little bit of heaven on "Scenic Route 7A". Each room is in its own cabin, except for two cabins that have two adjoining rooms -- perfect for friends and family traveling together. (Or, if you don't know the person next door, no problem. The porches on the cabins are of more than ample size.) Nothing fancy, a bit of a drive from any towns (Bennington is about 15 min. away), but situated in a very serene location. Very well run by the nicest people, who are always there for you. Clean and well kept. If you want to use the very large, grassy area behind the cabins (about 2 - 3 acres, I think, maybe more), it's all yours. Pet friendly and children friendly. Barbeque grilles in back of each cabin, if you want to bring your own food and cook it. Fridge, TV, microwave, AC. Phone, of course. No "continental breakfast", but a coffee maker in each room and coffee for it, and places to get meals not far away. And you can always bring your own food and keep it in the fridge then re-heat. Nothing extravagant, but very, very affordable also. It's almost hidden. You could easily pass it on the road and miss it. I always do. There are places to swim pretty close also. The sounds of vehicles on 7A are only an issue in the first cabin, and only if you're really sensitive to this. Much further from the road than other places. All in all, a great place to stay. Call up a year later and they'll still remember you and arrange for the best room/cabin for your current needs. (We've been there 3 or 4 times -- I can't even keep track any more. Like a home away from home.) And the other people who stay there are always very, very nice.

Room Tip: They're all really nice. Cabin 1 may get a bit more sound from Rt. 7A than the others, further u...

After an 11-hour drive, it was great to settle in to a cozy, no-frills cabin/room in the Vermont countryside. The room was clean, the amenities were simple but just right. Only a short drive (15 minutes, max) to the Bennington College campus; even shorter to good food in North Bennington.

Room Tip: Cabins # 7 & 8 are furthest from the road and perhaps a little quieter.

We stayed at the Serenity Motel for two nights while on tour of the scenic and historic Bennington, Vermont area, just a few miles to the south, Robert Todd Lincoln's (Abraham's son) "Hildene," just a few miles to the north, and a couple, beautiful backroad, classic Americana north/south backroad routes (Routes 7 and 100) just miles to the east. We also had just crossed over into Vermont from the close-by Adirondack Mountains of upper, Eastern, New York State. The point is that the Serenity is situated perfectly in the middle of all these things, and the motel itself was just as beautiful, just as historic, in its own way, and just as tranquil, comforting and peaceful as all these surroundings. It is like staying in an old-time, nostalgic motor court-type motel, but with all the modern amenities ~ including a personal, private, front porch ~ all enveloped within beautiful Green Mountain and historic Vermont surroundings. Ethan Allen would be proud! And the owners are just as wonderful as the motel, which makes everything even more perfect. As a final bonus, the price is more affordable and reasonable than most other lodgings in the area that we checked out beforehand. The Serenity turned out to be one of the most pleasurable experiences and memories of our two-week, historic and scenic, New England trip.
