“Respectful space for dog lovers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2011

This is a beautiful, tiny chapel dedicated to the memories of dogs past and present. To see the multi-colored pastel notes all over the entrance is very moving. Each contains a tribute to a beloved family pet.

“If you have a soul...”

Then you absolutely must visit Dog Mountain. We didn't even plan to stop here, but turned in at the last minute after seeing signs, and we agree it was the most moving part of our entire sightseeing adventures. Dog lover or not, this is a MUST see place!

“Dogs and People Love Dog Chapel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2011

I’ve read Stephen Huneck built Dog Chapel to have a place where people can go and celebrate the spiritual bond they have with their dogs. He was sooo successful! You can’t step inside the chapel without tears coming to your eyes. Every wall is covered with loving notes and remembrances – each about a dog who has a special place in someone's heart. I brought along my own memorial card for my black lab. It was difficult to find even an inch of unused space to post it.

Dog Mountain is the perfect spot for travelers to let your dog run and play off leash. True to its name there were dogs fetching, swimming, and just enjoying life on the mountain. The art gallery is located near the chapel and filled with fun, beautiful artwork.

Following Stephen’s death, Gwen has posted on the gallery website she is struggling to keep Dog Mountain. We gladly contributed to donation dog guarding the chapel and hope she is able to hold on. May the joy given to others come back around to her.

“Love Found Here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2011

The Dog Chapel has a sign outside that reads, "Welcome All Creeds, All Breeds, No Dogmas Allowed". That pretty much sums up the magical feeling found here. The walls are coated in notes owners have written to their friends who have passed. The small chapel has pews with carved goldens on the ends. The stained glass windows are of labs eating ice cream and being petted. A labrador angel sits up on the roof. It's offbeat, but very Vermont. Very loved by dog owners-can't wait to visit again next month.

Make sure to check out the gallery next door. Creator Stephen Hunick's work is shown/sold here. It's dog centric and priced for the true collector and the gift shop visitor.
