“Clean, easy, and close to Killington”
Reviewed February 10, 2011

We stayed for 3 nights over a weekend the first part of Feb. Arrived late and they still had our room. Clean room with great location to killington. Breakfast is great to load up on prior to hitting the slopes. Has dryers in the room to help clean up after a great day on the mt. Will definetely be back again

We chose to stay in Rutland instead of in Killington after a day of skiing. It's really not far from the ski hill at all, and probably well worth it to save some money. It also meant that we were closer to the highway when we left the next day. The hotel is clean, well maintained with friendly staff. It was quite busy when we were there, so we could hear some activity in the hallways in the early morning, typical minimal sound-proofing for this kind of place. The rooms are spacious enough for 2 people, and there was plenty of room to hang out and be comfortable. While there are some stores around, like a grocery store and crafts store, there aren't many options for dining. A Taco Bell and pub were the only choices in the complex. We chose to drive to the area near the train station and ate at Little Harry's. The hotel served a decent breakfast and has a little convenience store, but it would be nice if it had a larger kitchen to handle even a limited room service menu. If ever in Rutland, we would stay here again. The price is fair for the area, and the hotel is clean and comfortable.

I made the mistake of staying at the Confort Inn the first night I was here (awful) and switched to the Holiday Inn (not much better) and finally switched over to the Hampton. I would have stayed here first but their "government" rate is actually $12 over what we are allowed. So I had to pay out of my own pocket each night I stayed here. The rooms are nice and clean and have extra touches (like a nightlight in the bathroom and lights by the bed that swivel and you can acrually reach from the bed to turn off). Free breakfast good and warm cookies in the evening a nice touch. Suggestion is they get real about govt rate and get on board with charging the actual rate we are allowed.

We had fourteen family members in four room (ages 9-81) for a weekend in October. The service was fantastic - Ashlee and Muranda (sp?) were very helpful. It was a short drive to the maple museum, next to a mall, and Michael's and convenient to get to. Each bed had four pillows!

Building seemed fairly new and the decor was modern and felt warm. Room was large with plenty of space, but did not have the refridgerator we have come to expect from Hamptons. Breakfast was good and the location was close to shopping and dining. we would definitely stay there again.

We stayed one night at the Hampton Inn in Rutland in August 2010. I picked it because it was the priciest in Rutland, hoping that might mean it is the best choice. It was average in most ways, so I am unsure why it seems to cost much more than its neighboring hotels. But, there was nothing gross about it. The room was clean, the pool was clean (and warm!), and the staff were pleasant. Our first room had a very noisy air conditioner, so I am glad we were able to switch. The bed was not comfortable, which is always frustrating. Basically, you can't go wrong with an overnight here, but again, I am unsure what it is so pricey!

Spent one night here in September after spending a day shopping/visiting nearby Manchester, VT (approx 45 mins drive). This is everything you'd expect from a Hampton Inn : Polite, friendly check-in, large, clean room, super comfortable bed, free parking, free internet, and breakfast in the morning. Our room was very clean, a good size, with a nice modern bathroom. We were on the top floor across from the elevator, which we couldn't hear at all from our room, thankfully.

This location is right off Route 7 in Rutland, across from a shopping mall and located within a 'power centre' that also features a Holiday Inn, some chain restaurants, and a few stores. This is a convenient location for a lot of things, but don't be expecting cozy Vermont charm, tucked away in mountains. We knew that going in, so this was not a problem for us. Downtown Rutland is less than 5 mins by car and offers a nice selection of restaurants - we ate at Table 24, where we had an excellent meal along with nice Vermont beers on tap and exceptionally friendly service. Prices were very reasonable.

Our only issue with the hotel was not really the fault of the hotel. There were a group of young kids running around our floor between midnight and 1:30AM - despite some pretty good insulation, it became a bit of a bother. Unfortunately this escalated into them knocking on random guestroom doors (including ours) - prompting us to call the front desk to make them aware of this. The staff was very polite and informed us that they would send someone up - which I am sure they did. Unfortunately the kids kept on and we were awoken a second time by the knocking on the door. We called down again, they said they would send someone up, and this time it seemed to have worked. Cannot really fault the hotel staff for this - they were helpful - but not being able to sleep until about 2AM made for a tired start to the following day.

Overall - this is a nice place to stay in a convenient location. Unfortunately we were a little unlucky with the noise problems.
