We stayed one night at the Hampton Inn in Rutland in August 2010. I picked it because it was the priciest in Rutland, hoping that might mean it is the best choice. It was average in most ways, so I am unsure why it seems to cost much more than its neighboring hotels. But, there was nothing gross about it. The room was clean, the pool was clean (and warm!), and the staff were pleasant. Our first room had a very noisy air conditioner, so I am glad we were able to switch. The bed was not comfortable, which is always frustrating. Basically, you can't go wrong with an overnight here, but again, I am unsure what it is so pricey!

Spent one night here in September after spending a day shopping/visiting nearby Manchester, VT (approx 45 mins drive). This is everything you'd expect from a Hampton Inn : Polite, friendly check-in, large, clean room, super comfortable bed, free parking, free internet, and breakfast in the morning. Our room was very clean, a good size, with a nice modern bathroom. We were on the top floor across from the elevator, which we couldn't hear at all from our room, thankfully.

This location is right off Route 7 in Rutland, across from a shopping mall and located within a 'power centre' that also features a Holiday Inn, some chain restaurants, and a few stores. This is a convenient location for a lot of things, but don't be expecting cozy Vermont charm, tucked away in mountains. We knew that going in, so this was not a problem for us. Downtown Rutland is less than 5 mins by car and offers a nice selection of restaurants - we ate at Table 24, where we had an excellent meal along with nice Vermont beers on tap and exceptionally friendly service. Prices were very reasonable.

Our only issue with the hotel was not really the fault of the hotel. There were a group of young kids running around our floor between midnight and 1:30AM - despite some pretty good insulation, it became a bit of a bother. Unfortunately this escalated into them knocking on random guestroom doors (including ours) - prompting us to call the front desk to make them aware of this. The staff was very polite and informed us that they would send someone up - which I am sure they did. Unfortunately the kids kept on and we were awoken a second time by the knocking on the door. We called down again, they said they would send someone up, and this time it seemed to have worked. Cannot really fault the hotel staff for this - they were helpful - but not being able to sleep until about 2AM made for a tired start to the following day.

Overall - this is a nice place to stay in a convenient location. Unfortunately we were a little unlucky with the noise problems.

This hotel surpassed all expectations. From the moment we checked in staff were very friendly and helpful. We were recommended to try a restaurant in downtown Rutland ( about a 10 min drive) and it was arguably the best meal of our stay and also by far the cheapest! (table 24 in wales street)
Room was spotless and comfortable, free wi fi, and breakfast was also very good.
About a 20 to 30 drive to the slopes of killington so would be an ideal base for skiers. Plenty opt shopping and places to eat close by.

We enjoyed our stay here for one night. Room was clean and everything worked well.

Only two things jumped out at us that we didnt like. The cold scrambled eggs in the morning and the unusually high price for a weekend night. We are retired and on a budget and seeing that we had to cancel a 2nd night at a terrible hotel in town, we found a room at Hampton. The price really set us back as we hadnt planned on spending so much for a room for one night. Maybe the hotel would ease up on the price markups on the weekends in the future.

Nice hotel but much too pricey for a retired couple on a fixed income.
