Ramunto's is pretty much like any neighborhood pizzeria one would find in Boston, New York, or Chicago. That is to say, it is almost unique for a smallish Vermont town. The pizza crusts are fresh and made on the premises. The ingredients are fresh and the selection is good.

So why 4 stars and not 5? Part of the deduction is for a certain sogginess in the pizza if one orders too many "soft" extras, e.g. tomatoes, etc. This would include Ramunto's "kitchen sink" combo special. The "eat in" pizzas also tend to be just slightly underdone, which aggravates their softness. So, it may take a few tries and experimenting with the order, before you start getting the pizza you want time-after-time. Another slight quibble and a half star deduction, is that the premises are in desperate need of an upgrade. The floors in the eating area never look really clean, the booths are tattered, and the bathroom is dark, never looks clean, and is located between the back kitchen and the front. Yuck.

So there you have it. Great pizza, but you have to work at it.. And please upgrade those bathrooms!!!

Our friends insisted we try this pizza and we were glad we did. It is truly delicious. The restaurant is not fancy and there was a very large and noisy party going on, but the food was good. We all had fun and would go back for the food.

Man , you guys have really set the bar for quality taste and excellent prices. I went here late last year for a business trip ( come up to the ski resorts quite frequently ) and stopped in for a slice and a meatball sub. The total was less than 10$ , and the quality was great. Pizza was perfectly cooked, with that slight char on the bottom that you see of New York pizzas, the cheese seemed of good quality mozzarella , and the sauce was perfectly perfect. The sub had a good amount of meatballs for only being I think around 4-5$ , and the cheese was excellent once again , oh god I'm getting excited thinking about the delicious food here. My only gripe was it seemed to be in the shady part of Rutland , but I guess you can't do much about that ! Bravo!

Hand tossed right in front of you, authentic NY style Pizza. Great variety of toppings and great size. They also sell it by the slice. Staff is friendly and fast. It is entertaining to see the pizza makers throwing the dough in the air. The guy was nice and kept my hungry children entertained while waiting.
The original hand tossed base was absolutely perfect but I didn't like the Sicilian style very much instead. Too tick, more like a real tick deep dish.
The place has several tables but it is very busy with customers coming in and out and rather informal.

Ramunto's has more than their fair share of loyal locals. They serve a good quality pie that many say is the best in the area. I'm not so sure, but they are still thoroughly enjoyable.
