Yes, good seafood option in Rutland, VT. It is the place to go for fresh seasfood in town. Be warned - they are closed on Mondays (i believe). Clam chowder, tuna melt, and their french fries are all good options. The dining areas are not full service, which is nice and adds to the rustic / seaside tone. The country / christian music could be turned off or switched though...

Enjoy!

Ready for some great seafood, fries, and cole slaw dinners at a reasonable price? Then try out The Saltwater Cowboy in Rutland Vermont.

While the atmosphere and furnishings tends towards early clam shack, the food is good and reasonably priced. I've tried the fish and chips several times and it has always been good. The fish is an ample portion of properly cooked pollack, and the fries, while not home cut, taste like they are. The daily chowders and bisques are not to be missed, and the creamy clam chowder is as good as any I have had in Boston, Rhode Island, or the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Cowboy also offers clam, calamari, and shrimp plate dinners and lobster and king crab dinners when available.

The small seafood market offers fresh fish at a reasonable price, but the real attraction here is the restaurant. Seating is limited, so call ahead if you have more than eight in your party. Outdoor seating is only available during warmer weather. This is after all Vermont!!
