We had just over 100 guests at our daughter's weekend wedding at the Quechee Inn this past Saturday. It was without a doubt one of the best weekends of our lives!
Part of the deal when booking a wedding at the Quechee Inn is that there is a requirement to rent the Inn for both Friday and Saturday nights...and this turned out to be one of the highlights. Nothing compares to sharing an intimate inn with all the people you love in life. From meeting in the common room before a hike to Quechee Gorge to grabbing wines and beers in the evening while chatting or playing cards, the ability to have fun together in anticipation of the wedding on Saturday evening was extraordinary.
A full breakfast is served each day and, while everything is outstanding, many people remarked that the pancakes were the best they'd ever had!
When it came to the wedding itself, the planning was perfect and the staff at the QI delivered.
The setting for the outdoor ceremony, with the backdrop of the fields and mountains and river, was picture perfect, as was the move up to the terrace for post-wedding cocktails. Mini crabcakes, satays, bruschetta and other appetizers were delicious.
The reception took place under the QI tent. Place settings were elegant, the overall impact was gorgeous and it really fulfilled my daughter's desire for a Vermont country chic wedding. Then there was the reception food! The chef is amazing. Our daughter and son-in-law wanted a more relaxed buffet style, but everything was as good or better than sit-down meal quality. There was prime rib tasty and tender and cut to order, Ahi Tuna, excellent chicken and sides such as salad, mushroom ravioli, crisp-tender vegetables, (and amazing french fries that were a huge hit!).
The only slight negative when it comes to renting the rooms at the Inn is that they are not inexpensive. While they are all beautifully rustic and decorated with different furniture and styles and with a variety of configurations that can accommodate an array of couples and families, they could use an update/upgrade in terms of finishes, television, etc.
Bottom line - the Quechee Inn is a fantastic option for a mini destination wedding. Thank you to Michelle Campbell who worked closely with us to make it all come together. Thanks also to Bob, Tom, other Michelle (!), Dorie and Joan. And the chefs!! I hope I didn't leave anyone out. You helped turn this wedding weekend into a fantastic experience.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Built in 1793, the inn was originally the home of Colonel Joseph Marsh, Vermont's first lieutenant governor. Since that time, the historic residence has been expanded and carefully restored to maintain as much of the 19th century character and charm as possible, while adding modern conveniences like private baths, cable TV, and air conditioning for all of the guest rooms. ... more less
