Quechee Inn At Marshland Farm
Ranked #1 of 6 Quechee B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 30, 2011

We had just over 100 guests at our daughter's weekend wedding at the Quechee Inn this past Saturday. It was without a doubt one of the best weekends of our lives!

Part of the deal when booking a wedding at the Quechee Inn is that there is a requirement to rent the Inn for both Friday and Saturday nights...and this turned out to be one of the highlights. Nothing compares to sharing an intimate inn with all the people you love in life. From meeting in the common room before a hike to Quechee Gorge to grabbing wines and beers in the evening while chatting or playing cards, the ability to have fun together in anticipation of the wedding on Saturday evening was extraordinary.

A full breakfast is served each day and, while everything is outstanding, many people remarked that the pancakes were the best they'd ever had!

When it came to the wedding itself, the planning was perfect and the staff at the QI delivered.

The setting for the outdoor ceremony, with the backdrop of the fields and mountains and river, was picture perfect, as was the move up to the terrace for post-wedding cocktails. Mini crabcakes, satays, bruschetta and other appetizers were delicious.

The reception took place under the QI tent. Place settings were elegant, the overall impact was gorgeous and it really fulfilled my daughter's desire for a Vermont country chic wedding. Then there was the reception food! The chef is amazing. Our daughter and son-in-law wanted a more relaxed buffet style, but everything was as good or better than sit-down meal quality. There was prime rib tasty and tender and cut to order, Ahi Tuna, excellent chicken and sides such as salad, mushroom ravioli, crisp-tender vegetables, (and amazing french fries that were a huge hit!).

The only slight negative when it comes to renting the rooms at the Inn is that they are not inexpensive. While they are all beautifully rustic and decorated with different furniture and styles and with a variety of configurations that can accommodate an array of couples and families, they could use an update/upgrade in terms of finishes, television, etc.

Bottom line - the Quechee Inn is a fantastic option for a mini destination wedding. Thank you to Michelle Campbell who worked closely with us to make it all come together. Thanks also to Bob, Tom, other Michelle (!), Dorie and Joan. And the chefs!! I hope I didn't leave anyone out. You helped turn this wedding weekend into a fantastic experience.

The Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm is an amazing venue for just about any event. On Friday, June 10, the center for education staff at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice held our annual class day celebration for all of the graduating students. Between the beautiful weather, scenic views, amazing food, and excellent service, our event was a booming success! All of the families and friends of the graduating students were supremely impressed with this event and I credit the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm for making this day seamless and beautiful! We plan on hosting our 2012 Class Day celebration at the Quechee Inn next year and for many years to come!

We are a non profit group which had our annual fund raiser at the Quechee Inn for the second year and we could not be happier. We had about 100 guests for a buffet dinner with passed hors deourves and a silent auction followed by a live auction. They are very accustomed to throwing events like ours and it showed in their professionalism and their helpfulness. The food was wonderful, (special shout out to the mini crab cakes!), the service was wonderful and the location was unsurpassed. This is the quintessential Vermont venue, with views to the river, the pond and manicured grounds. Highly recommended!

The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfasts and dinner very good. The decor of the rooms at first sight was excellent but upon closer inspection could do with a make over. This seems to be planned and would be to their own advantage. When we had problems with the heating (the noise) the first night we were offered and accepted a different room. This could have been all round excellent but for a few minor improvements, however it was very good value. We found the people of Vermont very friendly and polite and would recommend the State for that alone.

Room Tip: Check sites for price, they vary.

I hate to recommend this inn too highly because I don't want it to be "discovered". It matches every expectation of a historic, friendly, soul-soothing spot. The food it to die for...breakfast pancakes in clarified butter! The fireplace is always crackling, the great room has as many comfy, oversized chairs to settle into that you could ever want. A glass of wine, a walk along the pond, tons of places in the area to visit. I should stop now...

We recently had our wedding at the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms - spectacular location, the Inn is clean with a lot of charm and character, the food is outstanding (best pancakes ever!), staff is very friendly and attentive, Quechee Gorge and the town of Woodstock, Simon Pierce, golf course, hiking, canoeing, all nearby... basically I can't say enough good things about this place.

We treated our wedding as a "local destination" wedding and rented the Inn for the weekend (25 rooms). We had just over 100 guests total coming from Boston (2 hr drive), Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Missouri, Georgia, and Maryland. Renting out the Inn was a pretty big financial commitment, and we were nervous about doing it, but they were flexible on filling the Inn for Friday night. In any case it turned out to be the best thing we could have done, having the Inn to ourselves for the entire weekend, and having both the ceremony and reception, made the whole affair more intimate and less stressful, and so much fun! They know how to do weddings there too, tent all set up on the back patio, ceremony and cocktail reception in the front lawn and patio, we even did the rehearsal dinner there on Friday night on the front patio - everything was turn key, very professional. Everything went off without a hitch too, if anything went wrong we didn't see or hear about it. We will definitely be going back for anniversaries!

The Quechee Inn is filled with charm and personality. We came for a relaxing weekend with three other couples and enjoyed our stay immensely. We took advantage of all the inn had to offer; complimentary full breakfast (very nice), cocktails in the courtyard, a fantastic dinner, after dinner drinks on the second floor porch, and to finish off the night a few songs around the piano. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, the wine suggestions were right on. Our rooms were comfortable and each uniquely decorated. This was our second stay at the inn and I look forward to when we can return.
