“Accomodating and Clean”
Reviewed October 22, 2008

My sister and I stayed here with our 84-year-old mother, who needed a "lounge-type"chair to sleep in, which they looked around the hotel for, then tried to find us (we had gone out) to discuss the cot they thought might work for our mother, found us wehn we returned and a very nice man brought it to our room; they were helpful trying to get the heat adjusted, which they took care of, extra this, extra that..always took care of all our needs within minutes of our requests. AND always with a smile and pleasant, friendly, helpful manner. I just can't say enough about how exceptionally well they took care of us. Even up to the last minute as we were leaving, the lovely lady who was getting ready to clean our room asked how our stay was, and came by to say goodbye to our mother. Even the young man who delivered her cot was friendly, told our mom how to reach him if she needed anything else...The staff made the hotel stay a pleasant experience. The room was small but clean and tidy./ the breakfast was GREAT...they have a waffle iron that made GREAT waffles and the coffee was wonderful...not weak and watery...also, the breakfast/waffle lady was helpful and friendly!!

  • Liked — Friendly and accomodating staff
  • Disliked — Smallish room and desk really too small for "computer/work space" and NO HBO

We stayed here well visiting Quechee for the foliage season and the location cannot be beat. It sits right along, now busy Route 4 in the heart of Quechee of which I have been visiting since I was a kid. This place was never here then, but is in the prime location for foliage and to see the beautiful Quechee Gorge. The property is quite large with three buildings and a now heated pool and exercise room. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will assist in whatever you need. Unlike other posts I read about this place, the rooms were clean and looked kept up and were a bit run down in some spots, but okay. They werent very large, but enough of what you need. The outside of the place looks like it is under some serious consturction though, with the top deck of the floor, being redone and some other areas being remodeled. The lobbby is very nice and even the breakfast is adequate. The price though is a bit steep for this spot and they should scale it back about 20-30 bucks since it is just a Quality inn. In all though a pleasant stay and not a bad place.

Rooms looked old and shabby, and smelled like mildew mixed with air freshener. Lobby was fine, but room decor looks like it was last redone in the 1970's. Would NOT stay here again. One of the worst motels we've seen in a long time.

My family and I stayed at the Quality Inn for an extended holiday: it served its purpose. Fortunately we didn’t spend a lot of time at the hotel. The room was fair in size, beds fairly comfortable, clean, bathroom was small, it was convenient to get to, and the Quechee Gorge is very impressive. Manners of the hotel staff were not up to par. We had a small issue in our hotel room, the maintenance man came, we found his accent charming and humorous until it became clear he was patronizing us for being “flatlanders”. I wanted to remind him that it was the “flatlanders” that paid his salary. I can’t really say if I would or would not stay here again.

We stayed this hotel in Mid March, with the landscape still snow covered. The hotel itself is located conveniently off route 4 adjacent to Quechee Gorge state park. We stayed in one of the hotel's suites with 2 queen beds. The room itself was very large and spacious. The space consisted of a large living area room and a separate bedroom, equally as large. The bathroom, however, was very small. The room also showed its age a bit, with some peeling wallpaper. This was not a big deal though, in my opinion. The room was very comfortable and roomy for a large family, such as ours.

The amenities at the hotel include an indoor pool and fitness room. The pool area was very clean and well kept. The hotel wasn't very busy this time of year, so at most times, the pool was completely empty, which was a real treat. Also, included with the room rate was a continental breakfast. The breakfast was the typical continental, with waffles, as well. I would say it was average. As far as dining options for dinner, there is a casual pizza and pasta restaurant located on one side of the hotel, while on the other side is a steak house. We ate at the steak house on 2 of the nights. The atmosphere was very nice, with a wood-burning fireplace running. There is also a salad bar, as well. The food was ok, but I wouldn't say it was spectacular.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. I would recommend this property for it's close proximity to the many attractions in the area and also for the beautiful setting. You really can't go wrong.

after reading one earlier letter referring to the "inexpensive price" of a room at the quality inn i wondered if i were reading about the same quality inn that i know. well, i guess it's all in ones perspective. in our particular case the quality inn at quechee gorge has been one of the more extravagant treats that my daughter and i have allowed ourselves "on the road" on our great new england fall adventure. we always wondered why such an average looking little place nestled in the woods would be so expensive. the inn use to be rustic, simple and blended into the surrounding natural setting. upon our latest visit we found several huge changes that had taken place to our little country inn in the heart of vt. the entrance had changed to a new location where one now enters through a formal portico into an upscale lobby with big cushy leather arm chairs and gigantic fieldstone fireplace (was i dressed suitably enough to register, i asked myself). we were informed of such new features as a brand new workout room and olympic size swimming pool. oh boy!!! the only thing we were interested in was getting into our old familiar rustic room, taking a lovely hot shower, wrapping up in a luxurious fluffy white towel, jumping into the best bed ever with its' over stuffed soft comforter and lying our heads on those heavenly pillows (that they refuse to let us purchase!) i do feel obligated to offer some wise advise, however. since we were literally kept awake all night long do to the creaking of the floor above us. all we could imagine was someone pacing back and forth, back and forth from one end of the room to the other end of the room. the continuous drip from our toilet lead me to close the bathroom door which i proceeded to walk into and bump my nose in the middle of the night! the next morning we would have even considered that pool to sooth our weary souls had we had bathing suits, darn!!!..... upon checking out the staff couldn't have been nicer and offered us compensation. we did notice, too late, that what was discribed as a continental breakfast (figuring that meant coffee and a muffin) apparently included make your own waffles with whipped cream and fruit as well as other delicious looking morning goodies...i guess we'll be the wiser next year!!!!

Think a Hotel 6 that was re-labelled as a Quality Inn and you get a feel for what the inside of the hotel room offers. It's cheap, so you expect a closet-like bathroom and a tiny room with hard beds. But what you don't expect is that the previous guest's bloodstained towel is hanging on the hook on the back of the bathroom door as a little welcome present (guess housekeeping forgot to look there) and that the carpet is so dirty that the bottom of your white socks turn brown from walking around in them. On the up side, the outside is lovely, it has a nice location and the front desk staff are all very nice. If you decide to stay there to save some money, just be sure to bring your shower sandals.
