I wanted to love the food. I've read about Curtis' for years and finally made the drive up to Putney, VT. Great drive up through VT, cool, kitchy vibe and setting with ramshakled old school buses serving as the BBQ stand. All "outdoor" seating although there is a large pavillion that could probably accomodate 50 or so people. And then there is Curtis. What a super friendly, down-to-earth man. Could have just sat there and conversed with him and forgot about the food. OK, the food. Ummm....I really, really wanted to love it. Sadly, I didn't. Ribs were good. Not a smokey flavor but a good, fresh pork flavor. Very tender but still had a nice bite and chew to them. Sides were OK although they all need to meet with a salt shaker. Macaroni salad was too tangy/vinegary for my taste. They were all out of pulled pork by 3:00 so that was very disappointing. Cash only and not inexpensive. Great atmosphere and OK food about sums it up.
