We stayed at Ranney-Crawford House for our honeymoon. The room and private bath were comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. The 200-year-old house is warm, cozy, and wonderfully kept. Our hosts, Arny and Diane, were warm, inviting, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast in the dining room, cooked by Diane, was heavenly! We highly recommend Ranney-Crawford House.

Spent the weekend here and found the property to be well-appointed and very clean. Our room was large enough as was the bathroom. The host were very personable and helpful with any questions.Snacks were available during the day. The only blemish on the stay related to breakfast. The breakfasts themselves were very good and plentiful, however, my companion only drank decaf coffee and when she asked for decaf she was told that since she was the only one wanting decaf none would be made because the rest of the pot would wasted. Instead it was suggested that she make instant decaf coffee. I don't think it would have been too much to ask for the hosts to make the decaf. Aside from that, enjoyed the stay.

I would like to thank Trebor9 for his kind review, but would like to clear up a misunderstanding that resulted in the one blemish to his stay at the Ranney-Crawford House. We do not have or serve instant coffee of any kind. The decaf coffee your wife was offered was Tassimo single cup coffee machine brewed Green Mountain brand coffee. This is an excellent brewed decaf and we would have been happy to have served her as many cups as she wanted. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Daine and Arnie run a fantastic bed and breakfast. Our cycling getaway was most enjoyable! If you're planning a cycling trip to Vermont, this place is highly recommended.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The three service breakfasts are hearty, plentiful and varied. Homemade snacks are always available to reenergize after working out on the hills. Arnie, an avid and experienced cyclist (40 years of active cycling) introduces his guests to different cycling routes in the area. He happlily guides guests on their outings for free, for the love of the sport. He speaks about his sport with passion. Should you become unable to complete the run, he offers a free emergency van service to bring you back to the B&B. Arnie is an accomplished furniture maker, several pieces can be found in the B&B, guest rooms, entrance, TV room. Diane is an experienced quilter, seamstress and painter, and a fabulous cook. Curtains, quilts, paintings add a lovely touch to the decor. This was a memorable trip!

My husband and I are from Salt Lake City, Utah and recently stayed at the Ranney-Crawford House Bed and Breakfast outside of Putney, Vermont for 3 days. We were so pleased with it! The innkeepers, Arnie and Diane, were personable, interesting, helpful, and accommodating. The historical home was delightful and clean. The area was gorgeous and Arnie's advice helped make our bike rides pleasurable. They gave us wonderful advice regarding eating establishments in the area and daily had fresh home made cookies and brownies set by the coffee and tea that was always available. We had wonderful lively discussions with the inn keepers and the other guests. For all of these reasons, this was my favorite B&B ~ and we have stayed in B&Bs all over the US.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Diane & Arnie's B & B.
Upon our arrival, we realized our daughter would need to stay with us for the night until she could move into her room at Landmark College. No problem - while we went out for a nice meal, our hosts set up a roll-away bed in our room for a token fee. There were warm homemade brownies and chocolate chip cookies on the sideboard awaiting our return.
We stayed a total of three nights, and each was a pleasure. Here's our assessment:
Our room:
A beautiful four poster with a feather bed, high thread count linens and a lovely handcrafted quilt by Diane. We had an incredibly good night's sleep. A good bed with quality linens are my benchmark for a return visit. We will return!
Food:
Excellent. Diane is an accomplished cook and uses the freshest ingredients from their garden and the local farm up the road. We looked forward to the grand breakfasts on a beautifully set dining table. The broccoli and VT cheddar frittata (as mentioned by other guests), homemade waffles and eggs benedict were truly outstanding; all served with an array of fresh fruits, yogurts, baked goods, thick cut bacon and home fried potatoes and onions.
Overall:
Our hosts were truly gracious. They inserted themselves for interesting conversation at appropriate times and left us for private moments. We always felt attended to without feeling either intruded upon, nor left to our own devices. They just seemed to always be around when we needed something. Perfect! The home itself is old and lovingly attended - updated without loosing warmth and character. The area is quintessential Vermont! Red barns, swimming holes, and beautiful starry nights. Overall, this was a great experience and we'll return to enjoy again!

I highly recommend this B and B. The house and the rooms are charming. More importantly the hosts Arnie and Diane are very friendly and will help out in any way they can to make your stay enjoyable. They are very willing to talk and get to know their guests. The food is plentiful and delicious. We biked for two days and had a wonderful time but you do not have to be a biker to thoroughly enjoy this place. (You should be aware that the house is not located in the town of Putney but is about 5 miles out of town in the country)
We have stayed at B and Bs all over the country and this is one of our favorites based on the hosts, the food, and the lovely house.

We had a great time at Ranney-Crawford House (our second stay there).

A few reasons:
-Warm, cozy surroundings in a beautifull two century old brick Federal manor house.
-Exceptionally comfortable and clean rooms with hand made furniture (by Arnie).
-Excellent cycling in the area and guide sheets with great advice from Arnie.
-Unreal gourmet breakfasts crafted by Diane.

Highly recommended!
