“Charming and friendly”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

We ate here twice on our recent visit to the Brattleboro area. Both times were excellent. The menu has some excellent items including some traditional comfort food (like a Turkey Pot Pie and Mac and Cheese) as well as several sandwich items and main course entrees (which are large enough to serve 3 people). Service was outstanding and quite warm and friendly from the Owner, the General Manager and on down to the serving staff. Portions overall are quite large, even with just the sandwiches/burgers. The dining room is truly the quintessential New England Inn experience, a collection of smaller, more intimate dining rooms. There was even live music one night which made for an even nicer atmosphere.

“We should have gone to Friendly's.”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

We arrived at this charming Inn for what we thought was to be a dinning experience for two anniversary's.
Everything was fine with the greeting, seating, order taking and general anvience and atmosphere. Then our food arrived. Eggs were ordered sunny side up and arrived as ordered with two sausage links and grilled red potatoes that were cold and advertised as hash browns with two small pancakes We had to ask for toast for the sunny side up eggs. The VT syrup was in the smallest mini pitcher I have ever seen for four people. Yes; we had to wait for a server to re-appear to ask for more syrup. I must in all fairness add that the food was good but all felt that the VT Country Breakfast for $12.00 per person fell far short of expectations and value.

“Family Gathering Place”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

For my parents 50th anniversary we had a private family and close freinds dinner for about 35 people. Acommodations and food were very good. A few minor details slipped through the cracks and compensation was adequate. It is wonderful restaurant steeped in tradition and service.

“Can't go wrong with Maple Mousse”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Had a lovely dinner tonight (we've eaten there before)...to celebrate a family birthday. It was early Sunday, barely 5, so it was quiet. But, the service was attentive on the whole, and it was a lovely fall day. We enjoyed lobster pot pie, and a pork chop dinner. Don't miss their maple mousse for dessert!
The only reason it's not a 5 is that there was a lot of cleaning and setting up going on around us that made the ambience a bit off.

“Labor Day Weekend in Vermont”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

As all ways a most enjoyable diner at the Putney Inn. I had the Prime Rib and you could cut the meat with a fork. That's how tender it was. My wife enjoyed her pork diner, but most of all the salad. Excellent salad dressing!!! This is a must stop for leisure dining.
