Description: The Original General Store in Pittsfield, VT is the quintessential Vermont General Store. Located just four miles from the base of Killington on scenic Route 100, The Original General Store offers market-driven breakfasts, lunches and dinners, a variety of locally crafted artisanal products, a 500 bottle wine cellar, Vermont cheeses and charcuteries and everyday sundries and essential items. From grass-fed beef, farm fresh eggs and organic chocolates to freshly pressed juices, maple syrup and penny candy, we seek to offer the finest products Vermont has to offer. Like all the best New England general stores we serve as hub to the variety of activities that take place here in the birthplace of the Spartan Race series. Today you'll find Pittsfield home to the PEAK Race series, Bikram Yoga classes and retreats, the incredible Green Mountain Trails for mountain biking and snow shoeing, and exquisite destination weddings and private retreats at Riverside and Amee Farms. Pittsfield is minutes from Killington and Pico ski resorts and the Green Mountain National Golf Course, or an easy day trip to Sugarbush, Mad River or Okemo ski areas and the classic town of Woodstock, Vermont. If you are a lover of natural recreation, try our fantastic river swimming holes, hike Vermont's Long Trail or enjoy a leasurely tubing adventure on the White River. Please stop in and see us any time before, during or after your adventures!

We ate here for two breakfasts (when staying in Amee Lodge) and a couple of dinners. The food was absolutely excellent and the place has a really nice, relaxed atmosphere - you can observe the village life getting going in the morning and the tourists passing by later in the day.

We will miss the wraps (try tree hugger with additional hummus - yam yam YAM!!) and if we are ever back in Vermont we'll try to swing by again!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This place had everything!! It was so unexpectedly cosmopolitan! Espresso, wine, beer, maple syrup! Organic granola!! An excellent deli- the food was delicious!! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner- and even have free Wifi!! The prices were very reasonable and the quality of the food was fantastic. The service was very friendly and quick. I recommend the Grilled Vegetable wrap with hummus for the vegetarians, or for non-vegetarians, the Turkey Wrap with cranberry mayo, green apple, cheddar cheese, tomatoe and lettuce- Yum on both counts! They have loads of home-made baked goods, fresh breads and Green Mountain coffee! If you are staying in Pittsfield, this is one place you definitely want to hit. It's worth it.
