“Nice view of the mountains”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

The staff is nice as well...and that's about it. The place needs updating, so unfortunately it looks tired and dirty. We stayed during a beautiful summer weekend. The staff greeted us in a friendly and helpful manner and answered all questions pleasantly. The public areas of the lodge are dark and cozy, with board games, books, and big TV for entertainment. The room was a king bedroom, with a desk, chairs, and night stands, and a TV. The bathroom was clean and basic. The room appeared clean, but the rug was stained in several areas. There was quite a bit of dust in the curtains. Our room opened onto a fire escape that had public access to the ground level, so if you are concerned about safety, please request a room with a private balcony. On the other hand, we were able to access the outdoor deck directly from our room, and used this for a nice picnic lunch with spectacular views of the mountains. The air conditioning seemed to work fine but was a little noisy. The walls are very thin. Breakfast is included, but not worth it. Might be better to buy breakfast somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the south side of the building for a fabulous view.

Thank you for your review. We have recently updated the lobby with new furniture, paint, and flat screen TV's and would like to invite you back to see what you think. I apologize for the damaged carpet in your room, we do have some large school groups that stay here during ski season. While most of the kids are well behaved, there are some that choose to wreck the rooms they stay in. We are glad you enjoyed the deck and the views from your room. Please contact me at jimdoria@bromleysunlodge.com when you get a chance, we will do everything we can to correct what happened and make your next visit more enjoyable. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope you give us another chance to meet your expectations.

My husband and I have stayed at Bromley Sun Lodge twice now. We just love this place! Nothing beats the wonderful views you will have when you step outside the lodge and look all around. On a very clear day you will be able to see miles and several ski resorts, one being right out your door. They have a beautful longe that has got all of your needs, from games to books to tv to just plain relaxation. Our favorite park of the entire place would be the bar area were will play some pool and chat up some very good conversations with the owner. It is always a pleasure to stay here.

Thanks for returning to the Sun Lodge for your stay, and taking the time to give us feedback. We do have amazing views from the property, and if you like to ski Bromley it really doesn't get any better. The tavern is a great place for an apres-ski cocktail or a game of pool, and we always marvel at how our guests (and their kids) form so many spontaneous friendships while they are here. Thanks again for reviewing our hotel on Trip Advisor, hope to see you soon.

Good location for access to Bromley and Stratton ski areas but don't expect high quality. Very dated and a bit less than what a seasoned traveler would expect but if you are on a budget and need a place to sleep that's convenient then this might be the place for you. The breakfast buffet isn't worth the time it takes to cook the waffle and that's the only thing hot besides the coffee. Everything else is cold, uninviting and loaded with sugar, not exactly the way to start a day of skiing. The help is pleasant enough but the facility itself is below average at best.

We are sorry to hear that our property did not meet your expectations, but we would like to mention our lobby has been remodeled as of January, and we are in the process of updating the guest rooms as well. During ski season we offer a full breakfast buffet on the weekends, and a limited hot breakfast midweek. We recently added fresh fruit and gourmet pastries and bagels, we apologize it wasn't to your liking last year but we have upgraded our breakfast service since. Thank you so much for your feedback, please consider giving us another chance in the future.

I've been staying at the Bromley Sun Lodge for years. You get your skis out of the ski room, walk out the door, and the lift to the top of the mountain is a few feet away. Jim and his staff are always friendly and willing to help in any way they can. If you can get away to ski anydays between Sunday and Thursday....go for it. For $99, you get to ski, stay, have breakfast and have a great dinner. :-)

Thank you for choosing to stay with us when you visit Vermont. Being so close to the lifts at Bromley is definitely a plus, and with a restaurant and tavern on site you never have to leave! Also thanks for mentioning the mid week deals, they can save our guests a lot of money. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you soon.

I stayed at this lodge with my ski club (about 40 people) during the weekend of Feb. 11-13, 2012. I had suffered a ski accident the day before, and arrived on crutches with my husband.
I stayed in the lodge the entire weekend and spent most of my time in the living common area with my leg propped up (torn ligaments in my ankle). The staff was terrific! They pampered me and brought me blankets, pillows, tea, water and spent time talking to me. The food was good too! They really made me feel comfortable and tried to lessen the trauma of my accident. I did not want to go home! Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on our property! We are so glad you chose to visit us with your ski club, although it is a shame you suffered an injury just before you got here. Unfortunately, injuries do occur at every ski area, but when it happens here we always try to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We have all the medical centers on our call list and will do everything we can to help an injured guest. The big screen TV, reading area, and fireplace can help take the edge of an injured ankle or knee, not to mention our full service tavern with special coffee and hot chocolate drinks for the adults! Just the fact you came to Vermont anyway, even though you had been hurt before you left, shows your dedication to the ski lifestyle we enjoy so much at Bromley. Please visit us again soon, the ski season of 2013 was a huge success and we look forward to seeing you in 2014.
Sincerely,
Jim Doria, Bromley Sun Lodge

We stayed at the Bromley Sun Lodge during Thanksgiving weekend so we could get away from the crowds on Black Friday. The cost? Even though it wasn't ski season yet, it cost us more than $200 a night. The heater was extremely weak, so we had to ask for a space heater. The style of the room was characteristic of a motel, not a $200 a night lodge. There was a refrigerator and freezer available, so at least we could bring and enjoy Ben & Jerry's ice cream. The TV got very few channels. If you need something from the front desk, you'll have to go down yourself: the person there will be too busy talking with co-workers to answer the phone. Complimentary Wi-Fi won't work for older computers due to the higher level of the security key. Smokers, very likely some of the hotel workers, are always hanging around the main entrance. When the day housekeeper came in, the room wasn't cleaned: the only thing the housekeeper did was turn the lights off. The complimentary breakfast is of average fare, but their waffles are definitely above average. Unless you really love waffles, it definitely isn't worth staying at this lodge, especially if you're not here to ski.

Thank you for staying with us over Thanksgiving, we are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. Recently we upgraded our free wi-fi system to make it easier for guests to connect. Almost everyone who stays here raves about our staff, we are sorry to hear about your experience but assure you this is not typical. Our employee smoking area is not in the front of the building, but being a non-smoking hotel forces our guests who do smoke to do so outside. We are glad you enjoyed the breakfast buffet and would like to earn your business back. Please email me at your convenience (jimdoria@bromleysunlodge.com) if there is anything I can do for you.

We stayed at the Bromley Sun Lodge over Thanksgiving 2011. This is not the Four Seasons, but of course it doesn't have a Four Seasons price, either. What it does have going for it is that it is clean, the beds and plumbing are fine, the breakfast is nice and the staff is great. There is a heated indoor pool which the boys loved playing in (and a staff member came by to make sure we were happy with how warm it was), a nice fireplace with sofas around it that my wife and I relaxed in. Our room did have an alarm clock etc., so perhaps the other reviews are a bit out of date. The staff was wonderful, accommodated special requests (extra blanket, a drink in the lobby etc.) quickly and cheerfully. We travel to Peru every year (my brother and his family live there), so we have stayed in most of the places around. Some of them are really nice and charming, but they are all pricey, and mostly not nearly as kid-friendly as the Bromley Sun Lodge. We will be back.

Room Tip: We asked for a king sized bed, and it was a good bed.

Thank you for staying with us over Thanksgiving and taking the time to review us here on Trip Advisor. We are so glad your boys were able to swim while you relaxed in front of the fireplace with a drink from the tavern. Yes, our rooms have alarm clocks, they do tend to disappear from time to time, but they are easily replaceable. Our property is certainly close to your family's house in Peru, and appreciate the fact that you choose to stay with us when you visit. Thanks for the positive feedback; we look forward to your next visit.
