“Top city cuisine in cozy country inn”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

What a fabulous surprise -Inn at Weatherfield. Beautifully maintained building with a warm and inviting staff that provided my introduction to a wonderfully produced menu. I went for the Chef's VerTerra Tasting Menu.....Portuguese Pork Belly & Clams with white Beans, Maine Shrimp & Celery Root Sofrito. Vermont Guinea Hen Stuffed Pasta with Truffle Porcini Cream & Tomato Crumbs. Chinese Szechuan Pepper Crusted Trout, Lemon Sweet Soy Glaze, Caramelized Ginger & Garlic with Cabbage Salad.
Chocolate Truffle Tart with Native Quince Sorbet & Orange Caramel....
Add one excellent bottle of wine from a spectacular cellar and you have the ingredience for one great evening.
My thanks and congradulations to Marilee and Richard Spaijian(Innkeepers) for providing such a wonderful setting and to Chef Jason and his staff for producing exceptional cuisine. JOY.......

“Disappointing”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Had heard great things about this restaurant and thought it would be the highlight of our dining out experiences on our trip. Turned out to be the lowlight. We ate in the bar area and were both struggling to find something on the menu we actually wanted to eat and contemplated leaving and finding elsewhere but it was already quite late. Found the waiter quite unhelpful verging on surly when my husband was trying to select a beer to order. The food was fine but not exceptional and on a cold night there was no feeling of cosiness. We found the whole experience v overpriced and will not be returning.

We're so sorry that your experience did not meet your expectation. Over the last six months, we've worked very hard to change the menu with Chef Jean-Luc to offer more selections on our a la carte and now our weekly tasting menu. Everything from a grass fed hamburger paired with our house cut fries or salad, housemade tomato relish and smoked aioli to our halibut or steak, pasta and as varied as rabbit, whey fed pork with house made cavatelli and fried oysters on our tasting menu at times. We wish you would have let us know of your frustration as we take great pride in not only the inn and each guest's experience, but also the cuisine.

“Restaurant Verterra at the Inn is WONDERFUL”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This is our 4th year in a row that we have celebrated our wedding anniversary at this restaurant in the Inn. The staff is very professional, friendly and knowledgable. The menu is always new, different and enjoyably unique. Have never been disappointed in anything we have ever selected. You can choose your own appetizer, main course, and desert or you can select the chef's menu where you will receive a 4 course wonderful dinner. Highly recommend trying one of the house cocktails also.

“Second visit was memorable!”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

Although I didn't love this restaurant when I visited about 18 months ago, I decided to give it another try -- and I am so glad I did! It was wonderful. It is a lovely place and was even prettier with all the holiday lights and a fresh coating of snow. Service was impeccable and accommodating and the food excellent. A bit more dressing on the salad with sugared walnuts, apple and blue cheese would have made it perfect, but it was delicious. The chicken under a brick may be my new favorite chicken dish - anywhere! Some in our group had the burger and fries and also loved them. I can't wait to go back!
