We had three young ones with us, age 9 and under. After enjoying an amazing lunch at KAF (see review) we were off to the Montshire! Before we had checked in the kids were off to the bubble area. The Montshire is wide open so the children can roam from activity to activity and you are able to easily see them. All the exhibits are educational, some contain live animals, and others let your child be active by climbing or riding a bike. When we went upstairs we were engaged in a microscope class led by a Grandma volunteer named Dee. She had the children looking at parts of insects, rocks, plants, and minerals. The climax was feeding spinach and kale to an enormous ant colony! The Summer is even more amazing because there is an entire water feature outdoors and trails for the whole family. Bring snacks- no food there.

A super interactive museum that keeps the kid's interest inside and out. Best in good weather in order to realize the full potential outdoors

My mom, kids (ages 8 & 5) and I visited the Montshire Museum yesterday and all really enjoyed it. We got there right at 10:00 and found that it filled up pretty quickly afterwards, only to empty out right after lunch, around 1:00. It was a very hands-on museum with so many activities and exhibits we all liked. They had several short 'classes' while we were there; my kids made paper-cup phones and learned about leaf cutter ants and spinning. The museum itself isn't huge, but offers a lot to do. Another bonus, it was very clean. There are some hiking trails and outdoor activities for warmer months. Afterwards, we crossed the bridge to Hanover, NH (home of Dartmouth College) for a great lunch in a beautiful town.

We were visiting family and looking for something to do, so going here was suggested. What a nices surprise. It really is made for parents with young children but the four of us adults had as much fun as the kids.
I loved watching the woodcutter ants - that is just so neat. I think I could even return just to continue watching - who knew they were so interesting?
We also tested our brain cells with some puzzles where you had to take objects apart. A few we couldn't figure out at all. (Maybe we all need to go back to school!)
We spent an enjoyable few hours here and really did enjoy ourselves. I highly recommend going no matter what your age.
