Based on others' reviews, we reserved a room at the Butternut Lane B&B. We can't dispute any of the accolades posted by others. George and Carol were most pleasant, gracious, and accommodating. There were many nice touches, fresh flowers in the room, cookies, snacks and beverages, etc. for our enjoyment.

George offered a restaurant recommendation that was spot-on.

We stayed in the Loveland Suite on the first floor. It has a double bed and an en suite bath. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and much appreciated for tired travelers. The setting is very quiet.

Breakfast was superb with excellent presentation, which you can't eat, and food, which you can.
If we are back that way, we will certainly call them first.

Very nice, laid back.

We just attended a friend's wedding in the White River Junction area of VT and rather than staying in one of the area hotels, we opted for a B&B. Although not as close to the event as other places, Butternut Lane was the perfect choice. Everything other reviewers have stated is accurate. The hosts, Carol and George, are delightful, friendly and eager to share their home with you. They go out of their way to accommodate you in every way - and the breakfasts? - enough cannot be said about the quality and presentation each morning. Full access to the adorable pantry off the dining room, only adds the welcome feeling you get, with cookies, coffee, tea and other treats available at all times. By the time we left, we felt like long time friends. Besides being perfectly appointed for a relaxed and comfortable stay, the history of the house and the way it is presented adds an ambience that makes your stay memorable. Amidst the busy schedule we had that weekend, Butternut Lane was our "sanctuary", where we were able to relax with our family and truly enjoy the area. I would add to the list of amenities that free WiFi is available throughout the house and surrounding grounds - sitting out in the garden area overlooking the river, watching the chipmunks scurrying about was a great way to unwind. If you are going to be in the the White River Junction/ Hanover NH area, you might want to go a little out of your way to stay at this gem in Norwich, VT.

Room Tip: Two of the three rooms have bathroom facilities en suite, make sure you specify your preference.

This farmhouse was built in 1820 and has remained in the same family for its entire life. It has a large front lawn leading down to an infrequently use road and railway on the bans of the Connecticut River.

We had a large room on the main floor The doors windows and floor boards are all original although there has been some re-modeling of the house over 200 years. It is warm comfortable and charming. We had a private bath and shower and there were two well positioned grab rails.

The pantry was well stocked with snacks, coffee and teas.

An elegant and wholesome breakfast was served in the main dining room.

We just returned home from our stay at this wonderful B&B. We took a friend of ours to the Butternut Lane Bed and Breakfast for a night after we attended a King Arthur Flour cooking class! I wanted to tell everyone how wonderful this place is. George and Carol are delightful... and the breakfast this morning was fantastic. Beds - perfect, common rooms - outstanding, service - could not be better. In addition, the history of this house is incredible. We plan on coming back to Norwich for other classes at King Arthur... we will make sure to book this place at the same time we book our classes. If you are ever looking for a great B&B anywhere near Norwich, VT - we would all recommend this place without a doubt!

I stayed at Butternut Lane B&B while visiting Dartmouth.
Thanks to Carol and George, I had a wonderful time and enjoyed a piece of Vermont in their beautiful house. Will definitely come back!!!
Perfect for a get away in the beautiful and quiet area.
Enjoyed the great breakfast and the family atmosphere of a 200 year old house.

I stayed at Butternut Lane B&B during my trip to Vermont because it was nearby King Arthur Flour where I was signed up to take a class. My communication with owners George & Carol was delightful from the first email to the final handshake.
The home is beautiful, immaculatly clean, peaceful and exceeded any expectations I had. The breakfast was not only delicious but stunning as it was accompanied by editable flowers.
Our room was comfy and cozy, the sitting room and TV rooms inviting and the pantry area was always open and inviting. Even our bath was well decorated.
I appreciated the wonderful conversation with George and Carol and will without a doubt return to this little slice of paradise.

Staying at the Butternut lane B&B was an absolute pleasure.
The B&B is located in a very peaceful and quiet location, next to a beautiful river and the near town- Hanover, famous for its college. The house is packed with the family's history.
Our hosts- Carol and George were welcoming and warm, and just made us feel 'at home'.
The room was huge, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast? an absoulte delight.

We only stayed here for 1 night before driving up north towards Conway and the white mountains, and wished we could have stayed more.

Room Tip: we stayed in the 'riverview' room, which was great.
