“What a pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

We're from Illinois, took a 3 week trip of a lifetime up to nova scotia, pei, new Brunswick, and back down thru Maine and Vermont on our trikes. We were looking for somewhere to stay, almost drove by. So happy we didn't. Family owned holiday isle reminds me of a stay I had on a lake in minisota. It sits right next to the water of lake champlain, has lots of land, (don't feel crowded). Like a big yard out in the country. They provided a grill for us, cooked steaks. We stayed 3 nights. I bought a fishing pole and lures in bruces (the owner) tackle shop, fished off his piers and boat docks, caught nice red eyes, severel northern, froze and took home and ate. Our room was tile floor, nice comfy queen bed, had another queen bed in room. Bathroom nice clean tile shower, small fridge, coffee pot, coffee, tea. Can tell joanne and Bruce take much pride in their place, very clean. Also they live on property in their own home. They were very nice people, will never forget my stay. Thankyou Bruce and joanne. Dave and I are going to the keys this year, hope to see ya next time up that way.if lived closer would definitley do some ice/hut fishing for those big northern you've got.

My boyfriend and I just got home from a Labor Day weekend stay at Holiday Harbor Lodge. What a nice little place. We had Unit #4 and it was clean and very cozily decorated. There was a little kitchenette (no hot plate, but a lsmall sink, coffeemaker, microwave, and fridge), two double beds, and a flat screen TV (Dish network and they had NESN, a MUST for my sports loving boyfriend). We spent some time out on the dock throwing out a few casts, and just relaxing. We could have rented a row boat with a motor for 1/2 or 1 full day, and you can use their kayaks for free. Holiday Harbor was a nice base for exploring the islands and only 45 min. away from Burlington.

The only issue was the TV had a mind of its own about how loud it wanted to be (kept going up and down) ... and that is very minor. Our towels were nice and fluffy (not all worn out), the beds were comfy, and the WiFi worked great! Cell phone reception is not good and our batteries drained fast, but you didn't have to go far to get a good signal.

We were directed to a few restaurants that we tried, but found reservations are strongly recommended so keep that in mind. They roll the sidewalk up early on the islands so if you're looking for night life, this isn't the place for that. It suited us just fine.

We would go back (in face we're thinking about checking availability for foliage season) in a heartbeat!

It's a beautiful place for a cool getaway from Montreal. Owners are nice, view on the lake is great. Ideal for a bikeride from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu to North Hero. Easygoing!

Room number 9, perfect for a couple! All clean, all well-equiped.

We stayed the Saturday night during the peak of Vermont fall foliage. Our "suite" had the two small bedrooms with two twin beds each, which was fine for four guys in band. A family would have found it quite adequate for a week's stay with the equipped kitchen area , futon, gliding chair, flat screen and Dishnet. The sun porch facing west to the water only 50 feet away was attractive and if it had been warm enough to swim, I'd have taken a dip.
The location; impossible to miss on Rt 2, the main drag through the Lake Champlain Islands, was ideal for us and we each said we'd like to come back with our better halves. It was simple, clean and a very reasonable deal.

These hosts Joanne, Bruce and Sandy really care about your stay with them, and will do whatever possible to make your entire trip a success! The view of the lake is sublime, and these typical fishing motel rooms have a feminine touch with soft white towels and a great coffee machine. They are renovating in bits and pieces, but there's nothing that's not acceptable in these rooms. WONDERFUL STAY on the island!
