The rooms are wonderful and the living room on the first floor is a perfect place to catch up on your reading or browse one of the many books they have about Vermont. Ellen and Phil are great hosts and provide a delicious and very filling breakfast.

Our first stay in the Stowe region was a delight, thanks to The Victorian. The house was incredibly warm and we felt right at home. Our favorite part of the stay was the lavish breakfast! We felt so spoiled with our private gourmet spread of fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade baked treats and eggs! As a gluten-sensitive eater, I also very much appreciated how Phillip and Ellen went out of their way to prepare me a special breakfast. We stayed in the May-Apple which was incredibly cozy and inviting. Back in the harsh Boston atmosphere, we are already talking about our return trip to the Victorian for this coming ski season!! -Pat and Katie

Room Tip: May-Apply was adorable.

We've stayed here several times. Phillip and Ellen are wonderful hosts and have always made us feel special. The breakfasts are super and the conversation is lively. If you would prefer peace and quiet that is fine too. The rooms are clean and comfy and spacious. Morrisville has more to offer than you might think without the prices and bluster of Stowe. We will be back.

Room Tip: Primrose is sunny and spacious facing the back garden.

Philip and Ellen are friendly and welcoming and were eager to make our stay perfect. Our room (Aster Suite) was a really fun and unique space architecturally and we enjoyed all of the intricacies of the decorations. Everything was clean and well-kept. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge. Philip and Ellen went above and beyond with breakfast--the food was plentiful and varied, including fresh fruit, cheese, and yogurt as well as homemade pastries and other breakfast items, all of which were amazing. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area and would recommend it to friends.

The house is tired and in need of a good cleaning and some new decorating. Our room (Pickwick) was dark blue and dark maroon and very gloomy and small. Blinds and curtains were very dusty. Wall to wall carpeting in hall is bunched up and you must be careful to avoid tripping.....it should be repaired for safety's sake. The hosts are friendly and breakfast is fine but the experience is less of a B & B and more like staying at an older aunt's house who hasn't updated anything in a long time.

Sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Especially since our goal has always been to try to give our guests a great experience. B&B's are all unique and take on the personality of the innkeepers... so reviews are taken kind of personally. This is who we are... family ... we used to think of folks coming to visit mom and dad... now it's more like visiting gramma and grampa... that was a deliberate choice out of who we are.. we also want to keep our rates reasonable so we don't hire staff or cleaning services or constantly change everything... the blinds and curtains are part of our November and April "deep cleanings"... Ellen keeps a very clean house, folks comment all the time about our beautiful home, it's cleanliness and the way it is decorated... the carpet is also scheduled for November along with a couple other updates... right now we are happy that we survived the summer and another "foliage season" (where we also take one night stays that create much more work for us)... we have pictures of all our rooms on our web-site... the only room that is not "light and airy" is our Pickwick Room which was decorated by Ellen at my request... I love "dark blues and maroon" so that is my fault... we did just put in a new tub and shower and toilet and repainted the Pickwick private bathroom only a year ago, so we do what we can budget in every year, without raising the rates. I apologize again that you were looking for something that just is not us. There will always be things that "need attention".
