“Always excellent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

We go here often for a quick meal anytime of the day. They have the best breakfast (minus the home-fries) around and you can get it all day if you like! The service is quick, food is typical diner food. I recommend the hot turkey sandwich. Servers are good at what they do and always are in good spirits. It can be a busy place at times but the wait is not typically too long.

“What happened here?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

We grabbed a burger here late night some months ago, and it was absolutely fine--came out nicely cooked, hot, and the rest of the order was good. But today, the food was really wretched--cold, oily French Fries, overcooked cold burger (like a rock when ordered medium), burned roll. Only the cole slaw was edible. I asked twice for a pickle--nada. I got one sad droopy tomato slice on a lettuce leaf that had been out of the fridge for hours. I paid for something I couldn't eat, so I won't be inside the door of the Wayside any time in this century. Sorry, folks. That was pitiful. Too bad for a restaurant that's been a community staple for many years.

“Highly recommended”

Definitely take a trip outside of Montpelier to try this gem. Good-sized portions, well-made food, and excellent service: what more could you ask for? Save room for the maple pie, because you will definitely want to try it!

“Breakfast the way it should be”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

I remember eating at the Wayside as a child in the 1970s. The restaurant is being run by the second generation of the Galfetti family. We went for breakfast, and I ordered the traditional diner "eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast". My meal was one of the best I have had in any diner. The scrambled eggs were fresh and fluffy; the potatoes real. My parents said the pancakes were delicious, and they are served with real maple syrup. Eating pancakes with artificial syrup is a waste of time. The service was a bit laggy. We placed our orders for coffee, and we had to wait for the server for longer than is usual. The food was prepared and served hot in a timely fashion. Go and have a great breakfast to start your day!

“Super-friendly, great prices, huge portions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

Good basic food, great service, and homemade maple ice cream with maple syrup on top won us over! The place was packed, mostly with local folks, and it's easy to see why. Very family friendly, huge menu and great value for the money.
