Description: If you don't live in Montpelier, Kismet is reason enough to plan a road trip! The chic, farm-to-table, community-oriented restaurant is Montpelier's first organic restaurant and offers up an inspired menu featuring fresh, local ingredients and meals crafted with love. Chef/owner Crystal Maderia creates seasonal craft cocktail and dinner menus that are sophisticated, creative, and complimented by her natural wine and artisan beer lists. All dishes are made naturally with local meats, organic produce, and sustainably harvested regional fish and seasonings from the restaurant's very own garden. It doesn't get any fresher than this! A great atmosphere, an inspired and nourishing menu, and a friendly staff make Kismet a local favorite.

We stopped by Kismet for breakfast on our way to New Hampshire, and it was a great meal. I tried the Eggs Benedict, with some ham, and it was very tasty. The atmosphere was great, and the place felt cozy.

My wife and I went there to have lunch,
It was our first visit but certainly not the last! We had the special of the day which was composed of a house made very good and creamy tomato soup with a hint of cinnamon, mmm great!!!, it was accompanied by a Cabot sharp cheddar grilled cheese and an arugula salad, what a nice meal in very friendly atmosphere. For desert we shared a house made pavlova with a strawberry rhubarb compote.
When leaving we asked if the chef owner, Crystal Maderia, had published a cookbook, sadly not!!!
If you are ever in the Montpelier VT area, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great service great food very friendly atmosphere.

Go here for its unique menu. I ordered a calamari appetizer and a scallop entree. Both were extremely delicious but I left still hungry. Prices are big city high. My tab for the appetizer and entree (declined wine, drinks, sides and dessert) was @$45+. The restaurant is in a quirky space: single toilet, cramped and limited table seating, no air conditioning. Service is likewise quirky. Drinks and wine were expensive ($10 and up). If your wallet permits to no budget, I suspect one could eat and drink here very nicely for about $75.00 per person.

I lined up @ Kismet for breakfasts over the past years like many others & was excited when the finally moved to their current much larger space downtown. Then they got hit by hurricane Sandy, assumed they would never recover.
A year later they are slowly opening more and more hours, breakfast is still the best in the area and now i think the same for their dinners. It seems every time i go the menu is changing with food and flavor we just don't get in Burlington. There are so many 'tourist' places in this area that don't care about where the food is sourced from. 'Fine dining or farm to table' or whatever term is in vogue one thing i hope they never change is the burbon burger - it may be the finest burger in Vermont. I too was a bit bummed about them not taking cards, but they DO TAKE CREDIT CARDS NOW!
