We chose this B & B because it is "Pet-Friendly" so we could travel to the U.S. with Moka, our Chocolate Lab. We were delighted to find that it is equally "People-Friendly." The grounds, the accommodations, the dining room, the food, the service, the generosity, the sitting rooms, the antiques, Trout River,.... Everything suited us to a T.

Even the small village of Montgomery with its Mountain Fiber Folk, and its Trout River Traders restaurant was right up our alley. Such a wonderful community.

Staying in the River House at Phineas Swann for 3 nights gave us the opportunity to take sight-seeing day trips to the surrounding area, and then look forward to returning "home" each evening. Indeed, we had all the comforts of home.

Yes, we truly enjoyed our time here in friendly Montgomery. Thank you, Jay, John, Karen, Emmy and Gwen. You made our visit an unexpected treat and we look forward to returning.

Traveling with a dog can be tricky, but not to the Phineas Swann. Dogs visitng here are treated like the member of the family they are and given luxuries galore! The human visitors are also well pampered. There was a brightness the ever present rain couldn't stop. Karen and Emmy were wonderful - great food. Overall a wonderful experience.

It was like staying at your own home but the best of surroundings you don't have. The view of the river and listening to the flow was awesome. Having our dogs(4 corgis) with us made the stay that much more special. They too enjoyed the large deck and grounds to walk on. The service is unmatched down to the last detail. They truly provide everything and make you comfortable with foods, movies and nice beds. Very acommodating to our Corgis with beds and snacks for them too. A very romantic and cozy place and most of all quiet. Jay,John,Karen,Emmy and the rest of the staff thank you for a great time.

We stayed in the second floor suite of the River House, and it was a retreat away from the hustle and bustle. I genuinely felt time slow down (for at the least the length of my stay) as I listened to the soundtrack of the River Trout (which we could see from our suite and balcony). Our hosts were gracious and dedicated to making us feel comfortable and cozy while providing an ambiance of sophistication yet relaxation. Thank you, John and Jay, for helping us truly get away from it all.

We arrived quite late to the inn after a long day of sight seeing and eating far too much cheese. Jay greeted us after we had a moment to set our bags down and attempt to take it all in. The sheer ammount of porcelain figurines and antiques were quite a sight to behold. Jay took us on a short tour of the first floor and the seemed genuinely sad that he could not take us out on the grounds as it was very dark when we arrived, the next morning I could see why, it was beautiful. Jay then took us upstairs and showed us our room. The room was beautiful and comfy.

I got to meet John also and he was equally as helpful as Jay. Our two servers Gwen and Karen also helped to make this trip something we will not forget. Thank you John, Jay, Gwen and Karen. We will certainly see you again!

The Inn is set in the beautiful mountains of Vermont, it is quaint, homely , warm and friendly. The staff is great, helpful, and make you feel at home. I actually miss those folks, they became friends without being intrusive or invasive. We went to get married, along with our pastor, his spouse & a very good friend. All of us walked away impressed with the great breakfast, the amazing brownies, and the overall hospitality. We felt at home, sat in the fluffy couches, played in the river out back, and enjoyed the fire pit and the lovely gazebo. Emmie & Karen made our stay extra special with their lovely smiles and willingness to help. It's rustic, & your forced to relax due to no cell service unless you drive to the mobil station due to the mountains, the rooms are kind of small but completely comfortable. I still miss the fluffy comforter. Over all, the experience was wonderful & we hope to go back for our first anniversary.
