“The Best Omelettes in Vermont!!!”
Reviewed January 29, 2008

When you're in your mid 30's, and 40 just isn't that far away, any chance for an opportunity to capture a moment from the movie "Old School" seems like a little piece of heaven. Grampa Grunts can offer you heaven for $78 for two nights and the best damn omelettes in Vermont. Great opportunities exist to meet people from all over the Northeast and Canada. Grampa is open to all types of celebratory occassions and doesn't mind if a little beer spills on the floor.

I cant beleive that people are writing bad reviews on this place like they expecting a caesars palace? Remember it was 28 bucks a night?

Who would stay their but somebody who is not picky, and is simply all about skiing, not upper class lodging.

This place had more personality than any lodge i have ever seen. The rooms were up and down, but even me, who got the worst room in the house, was perfectly fine. REMEMBER, we go to vermont to go skiing, not sit inside a hotel room!

Anyone who did not realize this place was low budget clearly missed the point of the whole place. ONE OF A KIND for under 30 bucks. FRIENDLY FAMILY TREATMENT.

The guy Ed who kept the place functuioning was a great guy. The other staff memeber treated us like family. Grunt was great, and checked us in in a backrobe at 3:30am.

If you were like my people, going to go snowboarding or skiing, the last thing you cared about was what the wallpaper looked like.

It blows my mind that people are giving this place bad reviews.

Recommended to:

people who go to vermont to ski,
low on money people who arent really picky, college students. Couples that love each other, and are ready for a fun, adventurance lodging at low cost
FUN PEOPLE that can go with the flow

Not recommended to: anyone who is not smart enough to realize that for 30 a night, they are not going to sleep in a palace.

I feel bad for those who write bad things about Grunts. Clearly they cannot appreciate it for what it is. I had a great time, Grandpa was more than accomidating to my friend through a sudden illness (refunds & hospitality) that warrented her early departure. You won't find that at any snooty "lodge". Fun people gather in grunts basement at the end of the night to share dinner, spirits, conversation, and stories about their day on the mountain, and THAT'S what it's all about! And the breakfast.... Awsome, cooked by Grandpa himself.

I don't know what you boys from Dama are complaining about. For twenty-something dollars, Grunts in the best ski hostel around. With over 350" in annual snowfall 4 miles down the road, the majority of your weekend shouldn't have been spent sulking around economy lodging. Grunts is what it is; The best lodging available for the best skiing in the East.

Have you ever wondered why some hotels and resorts don’t put a picture of their facility on local brochures? Well my friends and I found out that in the case of Grandpa Grunts there is no picture because the place is a urine hole. Gramps claims that there is a community BYOB lounge for people to enjoy. He only asks that you put your cigarettes out in the sandboxes nailed to the walls. The reason it is BYOB is be cause you have to be wasted to even want to hangout down there. There is a kitchen facility that smells of propane and looks like it came out of a burned down restaurant. The rooms are a whole different story, there was a 4 by 6 room with two beds, one wall outlet, one window and two broken folding chairs. The walls were furnished with stained carpet. The linens were of the random yard sale variety with a handful of stains to choose from. The rickety old barn according to grump can hold 40 people you better hope that there are not that many people when you go. Also id bring your own sleeping bag and tent and plan on spending the night outside, it will be much cleaner. PS. If you bring some trash bags you can collect the beer cans in the bathroom sinks to make a little extra cash.

We have worked very hard to improve customer experience since 2006. We do cater to mostly college students and do our best to stay on top of things. Most of our business is repeat customers who really enjoy the Grunts experience. Though we are constantly upgrading all our amenities, we are still "Dorm" style Lodging which is not really suitable for families with young children. None the less, we are constantly reinvesting in guest comfort and have had lots of positive feedback in the past five years because of it. Life is Good.

Picture a barn that hasn't been maintained in years. You walk in to a place where the lighting is non existant except for a giant fish tank in the hall. If your lucky you'll get room number 13 like my friends and i did. It's a gem. Third floor, one tiny window, two flourecent bulbs mounted to the ceiliing with flies buzzing around them constantly what more could you ask for. Once you can get by the fact that the room is the size of a crackerjack box for two than your worries have just started. The stained carpeted walls are a nice touch. Or maybe it was the unwashed sheets with brown stains on them. Or could it have been the community bathrooms on the floor below us with half empty beers and socks actually in the toothpaste spit covered sinks. This place was a mannure heap. Oh yeah don't plan on all the nice accomodations that are suppose to come with the stay that are listed on the brochure. If you see a TV advertisement on the brochure, it's not for your own room it's for the "community lounge" which consists of a dirt infested room with a broken trundle bed used as a couch. (P.S. bring your own batteries for the remote.)
