“Meringues to die for”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

There is so much that looks good here but we had a car full of goods already when we stopped here. But we did order several large meringues in flavors such as maple, lemon, chocolate, and raspberry and they are all delicious. They are also very reasonable at $.75 each for what are very big pieces.

“Wonderful selection of pastries and lunch offerings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

I love this place. In the summer you can sit out on the patio and enjoy your lunch, and do some people-watching. The staff are overworked, but still friendly and helpful. When I worked in Middlebury this was my "place to go" for a delicious lunch snack and a good cup of coffee. The seating inside is limited, but if you can eat outside, or take something to go; you will be not be disappointed.

“Quaint and excellent cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

My only negative about this cozy bakery is that I wanted to try everything they offered! What a find. I had a ham/cheese croissant breakfast sandwich, and a blueberry scone. We got a raspberry oatmeal bar for the drive home. Great choices, light on breakfast items other than sweet items. The lunches looked good. Attentive employees and the place was spotless. We travel through Vermont regularly and will go out of the way to bring our kids here on our next time to Vermont. Loved it! Limited seating but I would grab something and sit by the creek and eat in the nicer weather. It was cold so we grabbed a corner and stayed put!

“tasty pastries”

tiny spot, so take out whatever your purchase is BUT Make the purchase because the bake goods are delicious.
Coffee was just OK. Pricey as expected for such finely crafted baked goods. Limited parking .

“Not a friendly joint but a great espresso drink and croissant to go.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Tiny space that gets awkward quick. There is never a good place to stand. Food... pastery, soups, sandwiches are good. Small portion, big price. For example a small soup to go is in a 6oz coffee cup.

My biggest disappointment is the service. I find the staff unfriendly. They seem bothered, ambivalent, begrudgingly serving. I give in and try again every couple of months because they make a great latte.

We're always open to feedback at OCB. We strive to accommodate customers, granted we do have a small space-may we suggest you come early for choice indoor seating. Summertime the patio is open and plenty of space. Just to clarify- our smallest soup is 8oz. and we make it from our own stocks as well as produce from our own gardens as well as other local farms as the seasons allow.
Service is always key, keep in mind we make all of our products in house, the entire crew helps to get it out to customers, and sometimes things get a little hectic. Now in our 27th year- we are always fine-tuning and hope your next visit will be a more positive one.
