“Very good local diner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2012

We sampled Steve's for breakfast while on a recent visit to Middlebury. It is a local favorite which features good food and friendly service. It appears to have been operating for many decades, so they are obviously doing something right.

My one concern would be with the home fries. Based on everything else at Steve's, I would expect the home fries to be of the made from scratch variety utilizing whole potatoes, spices, onions, and cooked on the grill. They were more of the frozen french fry variety.

Crowded diner. Sometimes there is a wait but the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable.

“Best diner type food in Middelbury,VT”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2011

Went down to Steve's Diner on a recommendation from a friend (7/9/2011) . Very neat and super clean. Not too big and not too small. The table in the booths was just the right height. Had the meatloaf special. It's what I use to judge a diner. Nice & tender with just enough onions to make it tasty. And not burnt on the bottom or the top either. The mashed potatoes were just lumpy enough to make me think they were real and plenty of gravy. I hate it when a diner skimps on the gravy. Superb timely service and very friendly wait staff. Price was very reasonable. I'm going back tomorrow and take my girl friend. .

“A Great Small Town Diner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2009

I live in the area and have been going to Steve's Park Diner for years. I always think of it as the perfect small town diner. The room is bright and cheerful, the prices are good and it's always very clean. The staff people have been there forever and are friendly, warm and efficient. As for the clientele, it's probably the most diverse in Middlebury--everyone from construction workers out for lunch to hung over college students eating Sunday breakfast at noon. Everybody goes here because it's inexpensive, unpretentious and the food is simple-but-great. They make good soups and super burgers. But the best thing is the breakfasts, which are served all day. They are plain but perfectly prepared and very consistent. I've never had better fried potatoes--absolutely not greasy--and super blueberry pancakes with Real maple syrup. It was always very kid-friendly when my kid was small. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, not dinner. We love Steve's.
